Khan took an unusual amount of punishment that night for a winning fighter. I think he should have taken a long time out to properly recuperate. He may not have completely recovered when he faces McCloskey.

Name ain't Paul, its Rick. But as your asking my weight could be better, bit out of hand at mo. Training? Seriously need to get started doing some. By the way, because I'm not tossing off over this Khan bloke dont mean I'm 'McCloskey'
This 'Khan bloke' is a world class, elite fighter who's learnt from his only loss and come back stronger.
McCloskey is a good fighter, but he's out of his depth here. Can see this being a bit like Khan v St Clair. One way traffic.
That said, I hope he's competitive so he gets other opportunities down the line.
Can see this being like Khan v Salita to be honest with you. No chance. Literally no chance.

No he won't.
I stopped listening to Eddie Hearn when he used mentally unstable former Olympic gold medallist to boost his own profile and ego a few months back. Everything Hearn said for those eight weeks made me reach for the sick bag.

Oh yeah, lets not forget Khan v St Clair, and while we're at it what about Khan v Barrera?! I mean Khan beat world class fighters there...Even a legand in Barrera!

Come on, all these fighters had left was their name. Can you imagine what Barrera or St Clair would have done to Khan nearer their prime? I'm no Khan hater, infact I like him and wish him well and think he has shown great character in coming back from defeat and getting where he has got on hard work but McCloskey is going to be no easy fight for him and I wouldn't at all be surprised at McCloskey winning, actually I think McCloskey will win.

Then you're in the minority.
And exactly what would St Clair have done to Khan in his prime, given that he was a world champion only a year or two before they fought? I can tell you, he'd have lost a wide points decision.
I admire your support of McCloskey, he's a decent fighter, but he's out of his depth.

This fight shouldn't be happening anyway, not because Mcloskey doesn't deserve it but because Khan should never still be world champ anyway. 99 out of 100 refs would of stopped the Maidana fight in the 10th, a definate TKO. Amir Khan is a very good boxer, but for the newspapers to call khan a true warrior the following day was a joke. He was out on his feet. The true warrior was Marcos Maidana.

The fight should have been stopped? LOL
Maidana had Khan in trouble but couldn't catch him clean and finish him off with another big shot after that. The referee did the right thing, and this was proved when Khan came out with a clear head in the 11th and held on for victory. It wasn't as though he was taking a sickening level of punishment or anything.

I do love the people who come on with less than 10 posts to criticise Khan, they're just so balanced in their opinions.

I'm actually looking forward to this one now, thr more I think about the more chance I give McCloskey! He's got an awkward style, if he gets his sometimes sloppy defence sorted and if he isn't over awed I think he gives Khan a tough night.

Khan deserved that win totally. Yes, he got a proper pasting in the 10th, and yes, a lot of refs (not 99 out of 100, but the majority) would have stopped it. But the ref that night didn't. I reckon Roach/Ariza were gonna pull him out if he looked dodgy in the 11th, but he/they didn't.
I have never seen anyone near that weight class take a beating like that and not go down. A definite 10/8 round for Maidana. If Khan did it 'unaided' then he fully deserves to be considered among the elite. He won most of the rounds, and i thought the judges had it pretty much right.
I think McClosky will get figured out pretty early on, and will have big problems with Khan's speed.

Easy night for Khan in my opinion.
I hope Mcloskey makes a good account of himself but cant really see it happening.
2nd or 3rd round stoppage, referee stepping in and stopping it with Mckloskey still on his feet but being overwhelmed with punches. Now thats a prediction! Lol.

I have just watched the 10 th round back again and for 1 min 25 seconds khan through 0 pinches to Maidanas 69. So try and tell me that he was'nt taking punishment

i agree the ref done the right thing. but the fact that khan went for a CAT scan after the fight proves he had a tough nite. its not often its only the winner that goes for a scan after a fight. any hoo surley khan has too much in every department for mcckoskey?

You forgot to mention Barrera.....
The Barrera bout was cynical match making. He beat up on a faded legend and then it was stopped. It was a waste of time and did nothing for his career other than adding a HOFamer to his CV.
Does that add to your argument that Mc will beat Amir, that he beat Barrera unconvincingly? Give me a break.

No it doesn't add to my argument but I mentioned both St Clair and Barrera, that Khan beat two opponents way past their best yet he's now some kind of 'super star' because he beat them. You only came back with with St Clair and dismissed Barrera. Barrera was totally washed up compared to what he was. I'm just pointing it out as many seem to be sucked in.

Not like somebody with the surname Hearn to grossly exaggerate in an attempt to sell his event.

I see Eddie Hearn's talking like a promoter who's been around for years, i.e. he's full of sh!t

St Clair wasn't washed-up, it's fair to say Barrera was. But they are not the only two people he's beaten who were/are quality.
Malignaggi? Maidana? And he's aiming for Bradley, who's top man at the weight. Let's not forget he's an Olympic silver medallist too.
Nobody is sucked in, certainly not me. He's a quality fighter, and a credible world champion, you can't deny that, try as you might. He's a rung or two above McCloskey and that will show.
