Be careful when betting on KO or TKO - if the fighter retires on his stool declared a technical decision.

Bet365 tried to diddle me a few weeks back with Burns vs tomato can - so be warned.........

That's what I initially thought might happen. The fight ending between rounds.

I think Morales will get dropped and stopped in this encounter.A real sahme, as he was a fabulous fighter a few years back. His win over manny p looks better and better now.Sadly, he is too far his best to be competitive in this one.

Doesn't seem to be many pundits making notes of the size difference Erik is a small lightweight trying to become a Light Welter. Maidana is a strong Light Welter.

Still think Erik will survive the course (unless there is a kind Corner or compasionate ref - but I cannot see him winning any round).

I just cannot understand the reasoning behind this fight - JMM yes, but a non title fight at 147 lbs - no.

Remember Maidana was something like a 1/10 shot to stop 'Chop Chop' only 2 fights ago.

Wow, goes to show there is no such thing as free money.

Well done to those who called it right.

I think I hugely overrated Maidana and hugely underrated Morales. I was disappointed Morales didn't get the decision in the end.

Morales can carry a shot better than Khan can.

A sneaky fiver on Morales on points could be a nifty little bet. I bet nobody gives him a chance.
Did you bet on this in the end ?

I thought about putting a tenner on a Maidana ko between rounds 5 and 8, but I had a gut feeling Morales might hang around. In the end I just went with a Maidana win along with Robert Guerrero to beat Katsidis. Didn't pay out much, but a win is a win.

A better hitter, definitely. But he's so crude & slow I can see the version of Morales that lost the squeaker to Diaz having lots of success, myself, & I still think Erik hits hard enough to keep the young'un off him.

I wouldn't bet on it, but Morales is deffo going to be hitting Maidana harder than Khan was, & I really can't see Maidana blowing him away. Grinding him down late on maybe, but Maidana is not Manny Pacquiao.

Fuck me, I don't often get them spot on, but...

Agreed, it would have been a nice fairytale if he pulled it off.

I personally think even in decline, Morales' talent will always outshine a crude puncher like Maidana.

If he hadn't started so slowly - and gotten his eye closed in the process - perhaps he would have gotten the nod.

Morales was robbed! Seriously, I had him winning it on points. Maidana threw more leather but didn't hit the spot as often. El Terrible should retire on the back of this.
Punch stats posted in the Current Scene show Maidana clearly out-landing Morales.

He landed quality shots, cleaner but nowhere near enough of them to win more than 3-4 rounds.

Thought Erik's shots were better, quality was with him throughout after a dodgy start. No way was it as wide as two of the cards indicated!
I had it 116-112 Maidana so obviously I think the cards are fine. For most of the fight Morales was getting roughed up and bullied. He had his good moments, but not enough of them. I think a lot of people gave Morales too much credit because of the crowd's cheers; because they wanted to see the old legend pull it off; and because they were shocked that he wasn't destroyed. Clearly you weren't shocked that he wasn't destroyed, but if you have this down as a robbery I think you are being a bit generous to Morales. For those cards to have been too wide Morales needed to have won at least 5 rounds beyond a reasonable doubt and I just can't see how that happened.

I agree what that entirely. He was up against it with a swollen shut eye, and probably wasn't quite sure what his stamina would be like so chose to start slowly. Will be interesting to a see a rematch.Morales is in the Carl Froch, Julio Cesar Chavez mold of toughness, and like them can box a bit too :-) He lost on Saturday, but a difference in talent was there for all to see.

Got that wrong.

Mind, many in the prediction leagues around the forums had Maidana by stoppage. Not a good weekend for predictors with McBride going the distance and Lemieux and Kirkland getting Ko'd.

Posted this on another thread but it obviously applies to the phucking pudendum above also.

Unfortunately I done £300 in on it but I had a 110/1 winner last week so that was just a bit of loose change.

At least I have the balls to post my tips on here, you don't see people saying well done when I get a winner just pricks like you jumping aboard the bandwagon when I have a loser.

I obviously got it wrong, Ortiz looked strong at the weight, the step up has helped him, he must have been struggling to do the 140.

I've had enough of this forum and have requested for my account to be deleted so when I do get a boxing selection wrong I don't have to read the snide remarks dickheads like you come out with.

I wouldn't worry about it mate. I had a fiver on Ortiz, but it was more to do with him being on of my favourite fighters and wanting him to win. I thought if he could put it together mentally he could beat Berto, but my head told me Berto would prevail. Glad I went against my head, but just have easily gone the other way with some of those shots landing.

I really hope Ortiz builds on this now though and fulfils all that potential. Pacquiao and Mayweather needs dance partners if they are not gonna fight each other, why not Ortiz?
