Simpson and IBF
Re: Simpson and IBF
This will be a cracker.. Billy your a top man, I just can't see how he beats Stephen?? He won't outbox him and I am yet to see anyone outfight him and that includes all the places I've been with him and people who are world class.. I tipped John to beat Lindsay to Swifty and Billy but Stephen is not Lindsay.. He has a fantastic brain that can adapt to anything that's put in front of him..
Re: Simpson and IBF
Is the commenwealth title up for graps aswell?
We all have our opinons on the last fight, the fact everyone is divided means it really was close, but that is water under the bridge. In the last fight Stephen took the fight to John early on and dominated the opening rounds, when Simmy got close to Stephen and worked him inside Stephen didn't like it. People can say He hurt his hand but incase we all forgot, it boxing you are going to hurt your hand it is part and parcel of the sport, its how you react that's importaint. I personally feel Simmy had a bad night in the first fight and didn't box the way he can but I think Simpson will be head home with both belts. Stephen comes across as a nice guy on here but I just think Simmy will edge this one. Good luck to both boxers

Re: Simpson and IBF
What a massive fight for Smith this has grown into. Simpson beating Lindsay could end up being the best thing that ever happened him! It'll be close whoever wins. I agree with those saying Simpson's performance was poor, he was getting his punches off second far too often. However that is balanced by Smith's hand injury, fighting away from home and inexperience. Its a very good match at this point in their careers.
I'm a big fan of Simpson but he clearly has not dominated domestic level. A loss has always been around the corner. I think alot will depend on what kind of shape Simpson is in.
Overall I think Smith will take a close decison.

You must be a fantastic friend to have bomber; you really sing their praises. I thought that the 1st bout was close but that John Simpson had done enough to win. Lindsay is also another top class domestic fighter with a fine mind. Simpson must feel horribly apprehensive before the judges scorecards are announced as I've yet to see him cop a close decision. I imagine that the 2nd bout will be as hard fought; I'm really looking forward to it.Bomber 1 wrote:This will be a cracker.. Billy your a top man, I just can't see how he beats Stephen?? Should be a belter i'll be raging if it doesn't go ahead. I also thought Simpson won the first encounter. He's yet to lose a rematch which is interesting plus he's beat a few undefeated champs along the way as well as had a few dodgy decisions too. Both guys were not at their best in the last bout i thought. Smiths a talented fighter no doubt about it but i'm going for Simmo.
Re: Simpson and IBF
Is Simpson promoted by Maloney ?

I thought it was Morrison to be honest.Alba wrote:Is Simpson promoted by Maloney ?

I thought that after the Lindsay fight, it was mentioned that maloney was now promoting simpson - was it part of the deal to fight lindsay? Possible that morrison is still his manager like morrison is still Burns manager.
Re: Simpson and IBF
You might be right mate. Was thinking but, if Maloney is promoting Simmy, why is he going down to Liverpool if he won the purse? Anno John boxes better away from home but you would think it would be back up here again. Is the commenwealth up for grabs aswell.sgtcecil wrote:I thought that after the Lindsay fight, it was mentioned that maloney was now promoting simpson - was it part of the deal to fight lindsay? Re: Simpson and IBF
Simpson deserves all the credit in the world as he is tough as old boots with under-rated old school skills. But trust me he doesn't beat Swifty Smith. Ever. Smith done the bizzo up in Scotland and his hand genuinely 'went' during that fight. With two good mitts and having that bit more experience of a big TV fight under his belt I'll be having a massive punt on this and am praying I can get something like the 5/6 I got first time round.

Fight Winner
4/6 Stephen Smith
5/4 John Simpson
20/1 Draw
Just copy and pasted it from SportingBet. Am going the draw for value.
Re: Simpson and IBF
I'd imagine ticket sales. He must be confident in John - after all his best performances are away from home and he isn't a prolific ticket seller like Burns. Also a Liverpool showcase for Price.DougieC30 wrote:You might be right mate. Was thinking but, if Maloney is promoting Simmy, why is he going down to Liverpool if he won the purse? I really hope Simpson does it and I'd have him and swifty both favorites to beat the EBU holder. I think an IBF shot would be a step too far for Simpson but you couldn't begrudge him of it.
You would assume that the Commonwealth would be fought for.

Re: Simpson and IBF
serious question, should you win this fight do you think Warren would put you in a world title fight ? If you win i would imagine that you woud get some sort of rating with the IBF etc so it could be done. all the best mate$wifty wrote:You do if its over a 7 year period with 7 losses between it!billy nelson wrote:Well you dont win the lonsdale belt outright unless youve dominated the divisionliamsmith88 wrote:Here we go AGAIN, am surei read the same comments off u Billy before the first fight. This fight has a draw written all over it....nothing to separate the two,im having a little flutter on the draw
Re: Simpson and IBF
I thought Simpson won the first fight and has been robbd in most of his losses. I also saw it as a bad performance from John as I think he well has the beating of smith. I hope Simmo stops him this time. If he is on form like he was against Lyndsey he should do it.
Hope you don't do as much holding this time Swifty.

That's certainly not my intention, this forum would be much poorer if the pros did not get involved.
