I, however, am not such a type. Oh no.

Just rewatching Hopkins vs Pascal last night, who is that guy you had to put up with as co-commentator Bob? Couldn't get facts right when he had them. "Lucian Bute is Haitian I believe Bob". "Err, no he's Romanian".
"That hit him on the side of the head Bob". "Well, no the replay clearly just showed it hit the back of his head".
"Hopkins is quite a good boxer isn't he Bob." "Umm yeah, you could say that."
Then he just starts reading a list of Hopkins' wins, including the more mundane ones.
Must be like pulling teeth.

Anyway, on topic, lets hope we get an event here soon.

well, what's a little pedantry between commentators... that would have been Steve... we voiced that a while back, but I think it was my Eurosport farewell performance...

I think it is wonderful news that the Royal Albert Hall is to be used for Boxing again as when I have watched the classic fights on ESPN or whereever you got a better feeling of atmosphere then you do at the arenas that are used today.

Farewell performance!? I wondered why Danny Williams in your place for the Tua fight....

I first watched a show there in March 1983, with Bruno, Honeyghan, Tony Laing...
Kirk was at ringside, needing a minder to calm him down.

My first fight there was Mick McManus vs Quasimodo — epic struggle but Mick came through.

Second fight was skinheads vs goths at a Siouxsie and the Banshees gig

Third was Lennox vs Al Malcolm — most memorable as being the first time I met that Bunce fella, curly hair and all

Wish I'd seen Siouxsie and the Banshees when they were young... a bit weird in the comfort of the Albert Hall though... saw The Ruts and The Damned on a lost night in somewhere like Cromer or Sheringham... and far too much of Bunce even in the walking birds-nest years. Boxing back at the Albert Hall would be good anyway...

Definitely good to have it back mate, aside from anything else it provides a decent mid-size venue. For instance, Mick's recent show at Wembley would have been a natural for there and the hall would have been almost full rather than having a mass of empty seats as at Wembley.

The Banshees were a bit superstar by then, only went because a girlfriend could get me into a box (ooer!). But yeah, sitting in a box at the RAH watching a punk icon was pretty weird.

I saw Eric Clapton from the gods in there when I was a kid

I sang at the albert Hall, When Frank Maloney, John McDonald Ed Robinson and I were there early one afternoon on the day of the show, John had the mic, Frank said do an Elvis song, and I did!!, the place was empty apart from sky setting rigging up, but I did do it, I think the fight was Lennox and Derek Williams or McCrory,
And Frank wanted me to once dress up like Elvis in a jumpsuit and do the national anthem for a show, I think that was the Albert hall, the things I used to do eh!!

Funny you should mention Slowhand Coco, my mum once thought about getting my dad tickets to see Clapton play at the Royal Albert Hall in the Cream reunion with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce for his birthday, but he did not want to go which was a shame, and I am pleased have been overruled so we fight fans can get some good boxing at a wonderful venue
