I agree the racism boxrec has allowed recently is disgusting and has lowered the respect this website used to have. But at the same time I think you are also wrong to call Amir Khan a role model. He isnt. Any bloke who hits a car in the leg of a motorist and drives off and races in cars too much isnt really that great a role model. What Khan is is a fantastic talent whohas grabbed every small opportnity he had with the kind of balls and courage his cowardly critics and haters on here wil never have.......Khan is well on his way to surpassing even Lennox LEwis imo.

A thead does not 'mysteriously' vanish; it may have been taken down by a moderator who felt it overstepped the mark; it's not a conspiracy or mystery.

Maybe it's not properly 'funny' but no one in their 'right mind' believes it or gets uptight about it; it is similar to satire really. If I typed that Manny Pacquiao was saving his millions to fly to Mars to repopulate and be a God would you take it as true? Would it make it more true if I were to say that he was taking Floyd Mayweather with him to open his tomato ketchup bottles and put the toothpaste on his toothbrush?

Some things are said in jest. There are some people who are not that keen on how Amir acts and his media personality. I am sure that Khan can live with that and so can you. :TU:

Just to add my twopenneth, even though it's already been said, the irony of the OP is that those threads were deliberately started to highlight how ridiculous the criticism of Khan is/was after he beat McCloskey.

It is an old fashioned thing called satire.

If you look on BoxRec News, there's an excellent article by Martin Williams about Khan getting an unfair slagging.

This is the best moderated forum as regards boxing. Not perfect but better than the others I know.

Daniel Herbert must have read the OP before writing his Golden Boy Press Release, sorry I meant Editorial, in an attempt to even the situation up.

Not only allowed it but even discouraged criticism of it - for example when I pointed out how a certain title-level British professional had written on Facebook about how he wanted to punch out Muslims and throw their children to paedophiles to get raped, and it was deleted. I don't know why or by who, it just vanished, but if it isn't fair comment to criticise publicly-published outbursts of such nature, then I don't know what is.

Since it was deleted last time, best not raise it again.

But just sayin'... since he felt it OK to post it on his publicy viewable page, surely OK to point it out on a public forum. After all, Alan Minter still gets stick 30 years later for comments that pale in comparison.

Oliver, since your post the fighter in question came on to boxrec and declared it wasn't him and someone accessed his FB. I think it was the correct decision to delete the thread.

I agree with the Mod who deleted your thread - what you had done was perfectly fine and it was in no way your intention - but it transpired to be not a valid account (or he got facebook raped) and as a consequence, thread being deleted was the correct call.

Funny how he didn't even mention it on his Facebook afterwards, then. The offending post got taken off and then he continued posting other status updates in exactly the same kind of writing style. You'd think anyone who'd claim to have been stitched up like that would have made damn sure everybody knew it wasn't him. And I'm not sure what the "attacker" was trying to achieve, since most of his Facebook friends who commented on the status in question were largely applauding him for it. So if most of his mates approve of those views - and not ONE of them says it was out of order - it's not a stretch to imagine he does too.

I won't name him again and I respect the mod's decision, but I'm not buying that explanation at all.

Sorry, Oliver I believe he stated that this isn't his facebook account - not that he got FB raped. So - you know the friends of this account might not be his real life friends.

Anyway, I will leave it now. It caused a bit of scene, but I thought you deserved the right to know why it was deleted.

OK Stu, thanks. I have a few reasons to believe it was a case of "covering tracks" rather than a legit explanation, but just in case I am wrong, I'll leave it.

What do you mean by "out of order"?

Even if they were T-Bagging the ringcard girls does that mean that the Boxing News editorial should read like it was written by Asif Vali??

Problem with Khan is firstly his fans and freinds who carry on like tits , turn people off him

Then combine it with the fact that he can come across has cocky and arrogant it don't help ,

Then look at his familly who seem to think there the stars , it helps even less.

Because all along , he is probably not a bad kid from all acounts, and is'nt really Cocky and arrogants ,
he's just confident and thick has a brick . Listen to him talk , and watch him closely he has to think carefully what to say , a lot of his manerisms give it away , especially when he opens his mouth and looks around before he speaks ,
the kids spent his life at school dreaming about boxing , not education . He's just a thick kid with the world looking at him , not helped by his country men and familly , trying to convince the world there supreme by HIS sporting actions .

Out of order for press: cheering in the press seats, jumping out of their seats at the press conference to point and shout at the people on the top table.
I thought the Boxing News editorial was way more balanced than the ridiculous reaction of Team McCloskey, who butted in every time Khan or De La Hoya spoke.
Some of the press even butted in when Roach spoke, not allowing him to give even an opening statement because, according to some members of the Irish press, the only issue was trying to badger Khan's team into a rematch.
I have been to hundreds of of boxing press conferences and I have never seen such a partisan section. The only thing I can compare it to was when Luis Collazo's wife tried to take over the press conference after his loss to Hatton.
And you might say, so what? Who cares if Khan's team were badgered, people like De La Hoya should not be able to get away with saying some things unchallenged, but sections of the Irish press (and this was about 4 of them, I don't want to tar the whole Irish press as behaving like this) were disrespectful to their colleagues there who wanted to ask different questions or even ask questions that they might get some quotes from (which, after all, is the point of a press conference, the point is not to have it descent into chaos, without the chance for one-on-one interviews with the winning side, which is what happened).
