Khan would rather take on the division's top fighters.
Hats oiff to klhan fior that. I think it's brilliant. MCCLOSKEY. Is. no top fighter. There's room for a rematch

In the last few years it has become quite rare for a champion to engage in a non-title fight in between title defences, but I'd quite like to see Khan tidy up his record in 10 rounder.

I reckon you'd get some very good odds on a Prescott upset, Keith.

(Just saw you now think Khan has no stomach for a rematch; that's the level of "debate" you get on The Current Scene)

I haven't understood Keith's reasoning yet either. But it's early days. He does love a good long drawn out "debate" though, so expect more gems.

McCloskey was ranked number ten by The Ring and he certainly had a legit claim to that position. Malignaggi was also a top ten ranked fighter, and both Maidana and Kotelnik were top five when Khan beat them. It now looks like Khan will be fighting Bradley, who appears in many pound for pound lists and is generally regarded as the top dog at 140.

Prescott has absolutely no place in the world class picture at 140.

I'd fancy Paul Mccloskey to give Prescott a nightmare.
McCloskey would outbox Prescott's limited ass by a wide margin. Think Mitchell.

I said to the mrs when i saw Prescott that night. "this lad looks evil, I reckon he's gonna spark Khan" Never put money on it, but mrs though I was amazing. :OhYes: I'd like to see McClosky v Prescott actually. I would also like to see Khan/Prescott 2 just to shut the haters up. Khan was caught cold. He is a different fighter now. For sure he can be KO'd, like most, but the way he has evolved means he is less likely to be caught clean, and ultimately KO'd. I'm wary of predicting a Khan stoppage as I am not sure if Prescott has even been down yet. He dropped Vasques in the first, but then went on to lose a UD. Khan is better than Vasques!

This would blitz the 60k buys in the UK, and you all know it! £$£$£

Maidana hits as hard if not harder than Prescott and I felt Khan answered any lingering questions about his chin that were posed by Prescott a few years back - it isn't the best chin in the world but he has looked much stronger since moving up to Light Welterweight and he seems to know what to do when he does get hit hard.

I'll watch Prescott's latest tomorrow I think your right he's not yet finished he still has the poke to KO men handily but he wouldn't be able to get off any punches with Khans organised defense these days comprised with his speed.

I hope Prescott improves though he's a banger

Prescott doesn't actually have a lot of power. He has stopped only two of his last eight opponents, and one of those opponents is 11-8.

Maybe this thread would warrant a moment's thought, if... the thread starter wasn't a hugely biased critic of Khan's.

Check my other threads. I'm no Khan hater. I think he's a canny fella, I'm proud of him as a world champion and I admire him wanting tio fight Bradley. I just think he needs to avenge his only defeat, to prove once and for all that he can beat prescott. It does not matter who Prescott can and can't beat. This thread is about Khan-Prescott.

I just happen to think Precott takes him again. I hope Khan has the guts to give him a rematch and I hope Amir proves me wromg.

As for the person who said Prescott does not belong in world class..... All he nneed is a win over a contender and he's back in the picture.

Good point on Pac, all I'm saying is that if you don't avenge such a crushing defest, then it takes a long time for people to forget abour it. Look at Haye as an example. It took a lot of time for people to get over the Thompson defear. If he'd rematched Thompson before he retired and turned the defeat around, then the doubters would have had less to complain about.

Presscott would carry a huge phycological advantage over khan and that sort of mental edge can really determine the outcome so I personally wouldn't ridicule anyone who thinks presscott will win a rematch.

I'd fancy khan to overcome the demons but I most definately wouldn't bet on it.

That implies you got over it, why can't you wait and see where Khan's career goes? It strongly looks like he's going into a unification fight with the number one in the division in his next fight, surely that's more than enough? Were you still questioning David Haye when he was going in to unify with Enzo Macc? A fight with Prescott is meaningless for Khan now, Prescott has had chances to move his career forward and has lost.
MCcloskey I'll bet you £200 that if they remtach, that a Prescott fight would have morwe PPV buys than McCloskey.

What does whether it would sell more than a rematch with McCloskey have to do with Khan's career going forward?
Sorry, I mistyped. What i meant to say is that a Prescott rematch would have more PPV buys than Khan's last fight, do you agree?

Yeah, because of how they could market it. It doesn't add significance to the bout does it? McCloskey was a more worthy challenger for Khan's title, that's indisputable.
MCcloskey was rated higher, of course he was, but that doesn't mean everything. There would be a lot of. Interest in a Prescott rematch, much like there was for Lewis-McCall II. McCall. Had lost to Bruno, but the fight was still marketable. So, the demand is there for a Khan - Prescott rematch. You are wrong about the significance. The significance is, can Khan overturn his only defeat?

Imagine if Ali had refused to fight Norton?

I didn't say there wasn't significance, I said PPV numbers don't add significance. Facts are Prescott isn't even a top ten ranked fighter at LWW.
That means nothing. Khan could make the match. Fight a non-title fight if need be. But as Haye-harrison proves, the gioverning bodies will sanction anything.

What makes me laugh about all these Khan haters is that they genuinely believe that Khan:

a. gives a crap about what they think,
b. has the duty to fulfill all their demands.

Who in their right mind thinks a Prescott rematch is a bigger fight than a unification v Bradley?

Number one. I'm not a Khan hater.
Number two. I don't think Prescottn is a bigger fight then Bradley.

I just want to see Khan fight Prescott again. He has avoided him since the first fight. Where was the rematch?

Isn't it usual for the loser to invoke a rematch, not the winner? It's like saying why didn't Duran give Kirkland Laing a rematch.
If Prescott hadn't ballsed up his career since then, it would be an issue, but his record since Khan is 4-2 and he has beaten nobody anyone has ever heard of.
Face facts, you want to see a rematch in the hope that Prescott will knock him out.

Nope, you're wrong. I started a thread slagging off the haters.

I like Khan and wish him the best. I want to see him fight Prescott and hopefully prove me wrong.

If we're making assumptions. Why don't you admit that Khan got sparked out and has ducked a rematch with him since.

No doubt they'd sanction it, but what I'm saying is Khan has gone onto where he is and Prescott hasn't taken his opportunities, beating Khan doesn't give Prescott some kind of special ticket to jump on the back of Khan's success because he beat him three years ago in a different weight class. David Haye and Manny Pacqauio are current champs (I'm sure there are more but those two spring to mind) who have proven that you don't need to go back and fight a rematch to move on in your career. Khan left a rematch with Prescott behind years ago, if Prescott wants to fight him again he should get his arse in gear and step up the competition and get up the rankings.
Just to clear this up. BREIDIS PRESCOTT is currently ranked 9th by the WBA at Light Welter. Add to that his latest win and he more than qualifies for his rematch.
