Don't talk poo! Frankie is 1 of the most talented young fighters on the planet not just Briton! And he didn't throw the kindalin fight just got beat and it was 1 of his first seniors so not to bad really, and even tho Frankie is older than khan and khan is a world champ doesn't mean out khan has just matured very early and probs won't last as long!

gavin had a hard long distinguished amateur career were he boiled his ar$?e off. he could retire tomorrow & will allways be a legend for how great an am he was.i think it must of had a massive effect on his body & i think he'll be struggling at l.welter soon & i just dont see him effective at welter imo.
would like to see him get back to his boxing aswell as he has got all the moves & class.

If frankies struggling mutley will be chopping one of his legs off, I saw him out last week, he must struggle like crazy to make weight.
Be a good fight while it lasts.

Honestly, some of this is embarrassing.

Gavin let Kindelan win so Khan could get a big fight against Kindelan. That's very generous.

Gavin is quality, of that there is no doubt and he may become a more complete boxer than Khan but there are some outrageous predictions on here. Finest ever Brit? That's as current scene material. I'm all for optimism and would love to see him reach the top but there is some huge bias going on here!

Someone should bring this thread up in 2-3 years!

amature yes.
Both codes. If he wants it and stays injury free, he can be our best ever.

On the basis of what exactly? Looking fairly decent beating Michael Lomax? Whoopee-freakin-do. Let's get some perspective, shall we?

You could argue Gavin is technically more astute than Khan at this stage, but he's well behind in terms of athleticism, speed and experience right now. Gavin hasn't proved anything whatsoever as a pro so far.

I think beating Lomax showed he is at about Area/English title level, so he has proven something.

a drained looking lomax & being matched v mutley who is a welter shows gavin is getting matched tactically.

People are judging Gavin too early here, the lads only had 7 fights. Lomax was a very good step up for that stage in his career as is Young Mutley, after this a fight with Daws or Cook or even Williams would prepare him for a British title shot. It's unfair to compare him to Khan when his career is so early

He is calling out Khan though, Alex, so I think is fair to compare him to Khan under these circumstances.

Fair enough I just read the article

Still I hope Warren doesn't rush him into silly fights too soon because I really think he's a special talent (a British version of my favourite fighter ever, Sweet Pea!)

Later in his career Whitaker, that's what he reminds me on, stepping in with combinations to head and body working behind 'the jab with great head movement and counter punching. A prime Whitaker was slicker and used more lateral movement

Frankie was an amateur boxing on a FW promotion; the only purpose of that promotion was to set up the Khan v Kindelan rematch. A match that the amateurs Khan and Kindelan did not get paid for and FW did not make money for. A bout that set Khan up as the Olympic silver medalist who avenged his loss against the man who beat him. (Has such a promotion ever been held before or after?)

I do admire your childlike belief in the sanctity of amateur sport yiddo and hope that some of it rubs off on me eventually.

Rumour goes that Kindelan has a sister in Birmingham...

And so it continues! Look, let's agree to disagree.

To clarify you are saying Gavin let Kindelan win and then Kindelan let Khan win? Surprisingly, Frankie comes out looking better in your version of events with even him taking a loss in order to help Amir.

I have no doubt that we will all look back in years to come and agree Khan was better and achieved more, quite possibly a lot more.
I will be pleasantly surprised if Frankie achieves what Khan has so far, let alone what Amir will go on to achieve.

It's always Frankie OR Amir on here. Personally I rate them both and support them equally so I don't allow what I would like to see have any effect on what I actually see.

Khan is world class and a world champion. Gavin is a fine prospect currently operating at domestic class. If they fought anytime soon I think Gavin is out of there within 6 rounds. Nowhere near ready.

This is a press release, Frankie would not talk about Amir yet, he's been talking Daws, Theopane,Williams etc, all domestic fighters, Frankie is looking exceptional so far and every bit as good as Amir has done after only 9 fights!!

Frankie can go as far as he wants and knowing him very well like I do I know he wants nothing more than to reach the summit of the boxing world!! He's capable of doing it, it's all about the right fights at the right times and he has a promoter guiding him who is the master when it comes to that..

I think Frankie is a good prospect but talk of him dominating at world level in one of the most competative divisions is ridiculous at the moment. The guy has been fighting as a pro for over 2 years now and still hasn't fought for the British title. Why is that? Degale already has the British title and is on the verge of a world title shot after Groves while Frankie is taking a supposed step up in class against Young Mutley!!

I don't mean to come across as belligerant but before we start hyping Frankie up as the next big thing let's see him in a proper fight against a guy who will provide some decent opposition. If Frankie fought Khan right now it would be an utter mismatch.

Gavin v McCloskey would be a good measuring stick. But I would not like that till at least next year.
