No, this is just a little speed bump on the road that is Fury's career. Hennessy has tried to get big name fights, in Botha and Rahman. Fury's going all the way.

I cant see what the boards problem is - the amount of brits that would be in spain at that time of year would be huge. It would have been a clever move to get in a big crowd.

Also not giving the opportunity to allow an alternate british venue to be submitted is poor. Something isnt right there.

Maybe the board's problem is that they would be sanctioning a fight where they would have no control of the safety aspects.

Ringside safety measures the UK (I'm actually writing this from a Spanish island) have come on tenfold in recent years and could the board ensure that their measures are enforced in another country?

This said, commercially, a fight in Spain is fantastic. 1000s of Brits go on holiday to Spanish resorts and the idea that they could have a night out to watch two of their own on their hols would sell very well. They could put posters up in all the hotels and arrange coach pick-ups like a proper excursion.

Also, it would be quite good for the sport as many of them that buy into the idea of watching the fight will be casual fans who like boxing but do not follow it. Seeing two Brits throw down would be a nice holiday memory for them and would help encourage them to follow the fighters careers when they land back in Blighty.

He just wants to make as much money as he can from the fight and who can blame him?

Let's not forget that the last three NABF Heavyweight Title Fights have taken place in Europe.

If Hennessy's compliant with the rulebook, then i'm not sure what the beef is.

That's the crux of the debate here.

Yeah Botha is a huge name, so relevent that he has had his ass handed to him in K1 kickboxing bouts as well as the ancient Holyfield.

Fury is out of shape, lazy and overconfident. I have seen zero technical improvements. I see him going nowhere fast.

Hennessy is surely done, it may be sad but anyone who thinks he got into boxing for anything other than profit is a romanticist. Sometimes businesses fail and that's that.

I hope you're right, and if he does indeed 'go all the way', it won't have been due to Hennessy's involvement.

Hennessey's only success stories have been solely down to the fighters' in question, and the talent they possessed in order to see them through the hardest possible roads they could've taken.

I think Hennessey has done a hell of a job with the promoting and matchmaking. Tyson's early fights were on ITV2 and others have been on Sky. He's fought a much better standard of opposition than Price or Dallas and he's also got some exposure from being on the Hopkins-Pascal bill. As well as that, he's worked with Manny Stewart.
