I was impressed by him mate but come on. Sure those guys had great looking records but on closer inspection they have been knocked out everytime they took a significant step up in class. Manswell was knocked out badly by Stieverne in 2 rounds who in turn was stopped by journeyman Demetrice King. Fields is great at knocking over journeymen, hence his great statistical record but everytime he has fought someone who is near their prime and a step up in class he has been ko'ed in shocking fashion. (Monte Barrett, Michael Grant).

Good wins for Perez at this stage if his career for sure but hardly "fringe contenders" as you make out.

I heard his spars with Fury were good for both men.

I was impressed with his handspeed and agression. He's clearly got some skills, for me the obvious questions have to be around his conditioning and his will for a real fight...the Cubans aren't shy of the high life are they 8)

If Price, Fury or Chisora had performed like that, people would be going nuts. He dealt comforatably with what was infront of him, and Fields and Tony, whilst not worldbeaters are decent opponents by heavyweight standards. Again, what I really liked was his willingness to get involved, might cost him at the top level but it's going to be fun watching him along the way.

If he stays fit and motivated, I think he could challenge for an alphabet title no problem...

Get him in with Rogan. It would sell out in Ireland

Good fighter, exciting......which is what the division needs.

Think he would bomb out most heavies pretty quickly, barring the elite (Klit bros, Haye et al) and someone with a good defence who could keep him on the end of a stiff jab, like Price.

He is no Tyson but he'll probably be good enough to be the man of the division when the K's and Haye are gone. I get the impression that he likes doing things his own way though so much would depend on his dedication in training.

yes...richie woodhall didnt seem exacly enthusiastic about him when it was mentioned that he used to train him....

'talented' was as far as he apparently wanted to commit himself...which speaks volumes imo.

He looked good but it's difficult to say how far he'll go as Prizefighter is a funny format.

If I had to stick my neck out I think he's got a great chance once the K's and Haye have gone.

He looked more impressive than any of the current crop of British heavies, Chisora, Fury and Price included.

There are a few of his early fights on youtube if anybody hasn't seen him before. They don't tell you much about him other than he can punch.

Glenn McCrory, and i think its pretty clear he knows just how talented Perez is and is probably incredibly frustrated he never knuckled down for him. I watched a programme on all the effort Glenn went to to bring the Cubans over, and a lot of expense. I would imagine he feels pretty cheated to be honest.

He did not say much on the subject did he Glen.

If he stays in the UK & Ireland, then I hope he finds it easier than most imports to fight the top domestic opposition and not stagnate for year upon year

My bet is he moves to either Germany or the States and gets fats

I remember the coaches now you say.

Very impressive in Prizefighter, but I want to see him against a top 25 opponent in a full length bout before talking about his success at the highest level. I think it is too early to say that he will be the "man" outside of the Klits and Haye. Certainly looks promising though.

I have to admit that it was the first time i had seen Perez but i wasn't impressed as a lot of you seem to have been. Was he particularly sloppy because he knew all the fights were sprints?

His stone faced total confidence was impressive & reminded me a lot of Rigondeaux but i didn't see anything like the same technique to back it up. What has he shown before to prove his isn't just another welcome addition to the domestic mix?

None of our crop strike fear into their opponents the way Perez did on Saturday. They just did not want to know when he was coming at them.

What about Perez v A-force?

I think Pricey stands the best chance against Perez but he'd have to get him out there quick because that overhand-right that the Cuban loves throwing, would be perfect against my fellow Scouser and his low left hand guard.
