Ian, FW has openly stated that Tony told him he was only 4lb over the limit, this is clearly not the case, comes into the prees confrence like a mad man and then tries to get a catch weight. Sorry Pal that is not on

FW openly states a lot of things. I just don't believe Bellew planned this load of bollocks; he's just been kidding himself hoping he could do it. As I said, I can imagine how pissed off you are mate.

The replacement is a better fighter than Tony, 4 places higher in the rankings speaks volumes, what is annoying is a guy lying and calling a champ a "fukcing rat" knowing full well he would not be fighting at LH. Then trying to get Nathan to fight at a catch weight where as FW stated could have had Bellew 13lb heavier!! Really fair that

Nathan a world champ thats a joke too!
Is Bellew To Blame?

For saying he was 6 1/2 pound over? When it looks like he was much more than that.
He tells every1 the weight wont be an issue and says he feel's good. He gets the boxing world and fans excited and hyped.
And then goes to the board, and is way off the weight. Surely he knew this from the beggining no?
Can't belive it.....

Dropping 7lbs in a day is very do able, you can take off 4lbs at least in fluids

How fickle people are
I bet Tony is just as gutted that this fight isn't going ahead.
Dont worry this just gives us a chance to build up the fight properly and give Bellew a proper chance with a full training camp behind him. They will replay picstures of todays press conference and call it all bad blood and it will sell like fire.

Thing is mate, I suspect he'd already done this and more to get to 7lbs off.

For me yes he shouldn't have done what he did at the weigh in if he knew he wasnt making the weight

Well I would have thought Braehmer is to blame for the bottle job and Frank is too blame for still asking £15 PPV for the show.
Nathan didn't fancy fighting out of his weight then?

After seeing the Press Conference, like everyone I was very excited. I BELIVED Bellew when he said he'd been checked at the weight it will NOT be a issue.
WTF? Makes no sense!!! Why say all that?

From the press conference it sounded like the BBB of C had already weighed and given Bellew the clearance. Maybe not the case, just the way I read the situation.
I'd have thought all involved on the promotional side and Bellews team would have checked his weight before agreeing the fight and turning up at a Press conference.
All seems farcical.

Partly to blame for sure. He blatantly lied about the weight and about having fulfilled all of the requirements of the BBBC to enable him to fight. That statement alone is essentially saying that the fight is certain to be on.
However, Warren is equally culpable. The guy has put on a high profile press conference which without doubt was aimed at selling any remaining tickets and getting multiple PPV buys without knowing for sure if Bellew could make the weight thus duping the fans (of which I wasn't one fortunately) into buying tickets/PPV which they would not otherwise have bought. In this situation and with the level of publicity and excitement, a compromise should have been reached in the form of a catchweight so that even if the fight was not for a world title it would at least have still been on.
It's another example of everything that is bad with British boxing and boxing in general. Lies, deceit, lack of empathy for fans and most importantly a complete insult to the intelligence of the fans.
Utter disgrace and the guy will still put this joke on PPV.

If someone deserves blame in this whole fiasco it's Braehmer.

Of course the German deserves blame but how anyone can absolve Bellew or Warren of any blame also is beyond me. Both have lost a lot of credibility over this.

If this is true you have to feel for him a bit but why put yourself forward if you have any doubt whatsoever over the weight thus raising the hopes of fans etc. As I mentioned earlier, a lot of people would have spent their money on the event because of that press conference and rightly will feel angry.

Although i'm gutted, I respect the fact he hasn't hidden behind a wall of silence or ducked the issue. Glad I hadn't got round to phoning sky to place my order. Won't be bothering now.
