Why should Cleverly fight at catchweight??
hows bellew at fault? surely its braehmers fault, bellew was trying to stand in what were the chances of him being in weight?.

If there was no chance of him making weight then please don't say he can. Cleverly is the one being pissed about, not Bellew.

Let's not forget that Braehmer is the main one at fault.
Warren rejected Bellew then Bellew kicked up a fuss to get the fight even though he was a stone over, despite claiming he was 4lb over. It was Sky that asked for Bellew after seeing all the noise he was making. I don't think Warren or Dean Powell believed Bellew, that's why this guy was kept as a back-up and was able to fly out at a moment's notice.

He got his foot in the door asking for the fight and saying he wasnt too far off the weight, then tried loosing the weight but couldnt. He didnt really have any other option, it was his only chance of getting the fight. I may be wrong but if he was 3lbs less wouldnt they have carried on letting him weight drain for the fight?

If true then thats rediculous (and I do tend to think you could be correct). How many PPV's sales has this acquired since it was announced as Bellew vs Clev.... when all along there was a major doubt the fight was going ahead.

It's a WBO title fight... not a 'give Tony Bellew a hand' fight. He didn't make the weight, end of story, move on, let Cleverly have his night and if he wins set up a fight with Cleverly.
And people are forgetting here that Ovil McKenzie's missed out!

Unless obviously his fight with Bellew goes ahead. Think Tony should concentrate on winning this and proving he's better than he showed last time out because he looked anything but a world beater in that.

Like most ppl, I am getting fed up with these piss poor excuses for World Title fights. It's not Nathan's fault, at all, he just wants to fight.
He is going to twat this polish pudding and 'win' the title.
Then expect some more PPV fights. Yay!

Ive already stated the reasons, I expected to 4 pounds over when I got to London!! I'd ran about 8 miles then got on the train and shadow boxed in a sweat suit all the way to london then hit a steam for 30 mins!! then went to presser!!
I never had anything to eat or drink yesterday!! I shed a stone in 18hrs and go stuck on the last 6 pounds!! it was an oppourtunity that I tried to take!! I know now it was dangerous what I was doing but you forget that and think about world title and the money and my kids!!
I said from day 1 that if it was Hopkins,Cloud,Dawson or Pascal Id have said no chance BUT Cleverly is not any of them!! he is good but far from unbeatable!!
Once again Im truly gutted Ive lost out on this but I tried till the death I really did!!
My concentration is now fully back on Ovill Mckenzie and beating him, Im sure the Cleverly fight will happen one day
Thank you again for the support

I'm sure you did your level best Bomber but IMO you should have been straight about the weight from the start. Bloody shame it's not happening, loved the way you stepped up for this fight and gutted that I won't be getting to watch you challenge Clev Saturday night — sort of, because you know yourself that you wouldn't have been at your strongest and I'd like to see you fight him when you've had time to prepare for him and are in peak condition. But looking at it with the glass half full, you've created an awful lot of interest in a fight between you and Clev down the line, his name and yours are going to be linked in people's minds now.
On the catchweight issue, I can see why Warren rejected it. The show was advertised as featuring a world title fight from the start and they'll be trying to make some sort of event out of Clev having been given the belt, which is clutching at straws a little, I know. But I can see where they're coming from. Besides, when you two meet it should be for the title, adds to the interest, adds to the purse. Your time will come mate, don't doubt it.

X2.
Sky wanted a world title fight for PPV, FW had sold tickets on the basis of a world title fight. Cleverly had trained properly etc, so should be allowed to defend/win etc the title given that a ranked fighter is available.
There is plenty of time to build a Cleverly-Bellew fight down the line (with both fighters fully prepared). IMO, short of last-minute subbing, Bellew hasn't really earned a shot
yet.

Massively disagree - the right call has been made, IMO.
Totally agree, why should Cleverly opt for that?

the main point is for cleverly to be crowned a world champ. if the russian can make the weight and bellew can't, then the russian gets the shot, maintaining the integrity of this night of "world championship boxing."
the russian did challenge braehmer, and lost, i think. did he put up a good fight, that time? i would have prefered sukhotsky, who almost knocked braehmer's head off, only for the ref to allow the slaughter to go on, with braehmer rallying once sukhotsky was too exhausted to throw any more shots...but clearly this is not about personal preference, it's about getting FW's boy, who won an elim a while back, into the WBO bauble.
after the pallarva with the late reveal of a weight problem, would this have created demand for bellew to fight cleverly; or would it have damaged his credentials?

The whole thing is nonsense really. Fighting for any title shouldn't be about 'making weight' and losing over half a stone in four days wouldn't be advised to the man walking the street, let alone a bloke fighting an unbeaten European champion who is well prepared for the biggest fight of his career.
Bellew can now look to beating McKenzie more impressively and if he wins and Cleverly wins, it's not a bad first defence for Cleverly is it?
