take someones career into consideration rather than their last fight. Gavin has clearly demonstrated he has gears - he went into about 3rd against lomax and didnt get out of 1st last night. He's stopped 80% of his opponents.

The guy didnt loose one round and was barely going for it.

its just my opinion. i can see how well he reads his opponents but i also believe he lacks the gears. i thought lomax sagged rather then frankie up a gear. again my opinion.like any british fighter i love to be proven wrong & still back them regardless.
time will tell i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to a bad peformance rather that the limits of his abilities at this point.

Mutley was there to survive hard to look good against that. But this was his chance to shine and he didnt. be interesting to see who he's in with next. Woodhouse? Daws? Theophane?

Muttley had put in some very hard work in the gym; he looked ripped. It is a shame he didn't just give it a go. All that exercise and dieting; for what? To fanny about and fight scared. did he even throw the left hook going forwards?

Frankie didn't look fantastic; he may need an aggressive fighter in front of him to really shine.

X2

Frankie had an off night due to ill health. He could have pulled out of the fight but he didnt, which shows his true character. I'm sure Frankie will come back stronger and will illustrate his potential in his next fight. Pretty much everyone who has sparred with Frankie state that he is the best 'technical' fighter in the UK.

He got some rounds under his belt. He's nowhere near the complete product. Just because the Gavin fight was boring, Cleverly got rocked by a last minute nobody and was gifted a premature panic stoppage, and Degale lost by one measly point suddenly loads of people are writing them off.

Gavin and Degale still have a long way to go before they move up in class. That's fine, they need to struggle in fights. They're just getting too much exposure too early. People are expecting too much. Warren's been sticking them in with bus drivers for f*cks sake! They've got bags of talent it's just about learning for them still.

I suppose the only one to legitimately worry about is Cleverly, who will no doubt be looking to unify soon, or face some of the top names in the division naturally now he's a 'champ'. Hopkins, Pascal and Dawson would all roll over him unfortunately. You could argue that he just wanted to look good stopping the Pole last night and got careless going for the KO with what he thought was an overmatched opponent. But I imagine Pascal, smarting from the Hopkins loss, sees Nathan with a belt and an easy way to get a title and some self respect back. I wonder who Cleverly will end up in the ring with next? Bellow rather than any of the yanks would be a safer bet.

He was ill, in only his tenth fight he was fighting a former British champion at a weight above, pver 12 rounds and won every round. Yep he sure is crap!

In the next 12 months I can really see him making a big impact. I hope he gets the Theophane fight. He'd beat him comfortably I feel.

Mark my words, Frankie Gavin is THE best prospect in this country! I've always said it and it will not change!! Kid is special, you just watch him when he starts to face fighters who wAnna win and not survive! I'll be first to admit that fighting guys who are trying to survive is a nightmare!

I've experienced it enough times :-( also he still has to diet to make 147 or 140!! It's tough making weight and even tougher doing it while your under the weather :-( once again he deserves props and not criticism as he'd of been slated had he pulled out!!

Terrific boxing brain, but he's going to need more excitement in there (and more power, particularly) if he wants to be a star. Hopefully it'll come out against someone who's willing to engage with him a bit.

i understand people are going to bring up peter mac fight and ive got no come backs from that all i can say is that things were not right for that fight but im not going to go into it because ive never made any excuses for defeats or bad performances and im not gunna start now but if they are looking for somebody to come and try and win then ill answer the call if they want to put another dead body infront of him and stink the place out carry on all i will say is if they want the fight at 10st i will need notice to make the weight :TU:

If you want the fight its there, Frankie was sick a week before the fight and in hindsight I should of pulled him, If you get the fight ur getting KOd simple.

Id rather see Gavin fight Woodhouse who is game and quick handed than fight a 35 year old who hasnt fought in over a year.

A bit of needle is what Gavin needs. Someone to wind him up saying he is going to do him and he isnt all that, then we'll see if he can handle a bit more pressure. Mutley represented an easy nights work, even with flu. Its hardly a fans moneys worth.
