Agreed. But tonight both fighters were Champions, and they both had a title to gain. For a rematch, the situation would be different, and what would Groves gain by beating him again?
It's a no win situation for Groves, if he beat DeGale again, he's just repeating a past achievement.

What a load of bollocks. That was a tight, close and tough bout between 2 top class man. If they boxed 10 times there wouldn't be much space between them. I thought DeGale had won the bout by being the aggressor but do like Groves more as a person.

I see your point but, given the paper thin decision and Frank's clout with the board, a rematch will almost certainly be mandated. Would George really want to lose his belt, a massive payday and risk being accused of bottling it?

I think some people are being very reactionary about a fight which could clearly have gone either way.

DeGale would be a punching bag in the States, Groves is a decent domestic level fighter nothing more and look how clued he was when his opponent wasn't a stationary tomato can, in the States he'd be exposed against any decent level of competition.

If I were Degale manager-promoter here's what I'd do.

First, understand that he didn't take a great deal of punishment, and needs to not be given soft touches. I suspect he's the kind of fighter who, if not matched tough, will slack off. He should therefore be put on the same card as Groves once or twice, in tough fights, and do a bit of "I was robbed" bad-mouthing, before being rematched.

Insist also that he learns how to build fights behind the jab.
