Indeed. Groves has the moral victory because of DeGale's pre-fight talk of swatting him like a fly, but he shouldn't fall into the trap of believing his own hype the way his opponent did. One point in it after all.

How many journalists actually have the balls to come out into the open to declare they have scored a fight against a W arren fighter?

How many journalists actually have the balls to get remotely controversial against anything to do with a certain promoter?

They wont because they live in fear of losing their press credentials.

Wasn't exciting but wouldn't go so far as dull King G, I'd say it was intriguing, which in itself could be viewed as damning with faint praise. But I did enjoy it.

Dunno mate, not a problem I have personally. I call fights as I see them, write what I feel like writing.

Did the fact that Groves turned up and performed better than most expected, have a bearing on the scoring?

Where people more suspect to give Groves the nod in the close rounds because everyone wanted him to win?

I thought it was a close fight, but Degale definitely did enough in my books, and the four other lads that I was with.

I think its unfair to lay into Groves like that.

To be fair hes had months (if not years) Of James DeGale publically mugging him off and trying to get under his skin.

He won the fight. Close, but he won, and theres no way you could argue that DeGale was robbed.

So for George to do one interview straight after the fight, when adrenalin still pumping, and him direct a few words of retaliation almost a 'told you so' to DeGale, I think is perfectly fair. No personal insults etc, just got the impression he was (rightfully) elated that it went down like it did. Their gameplan worked perfectly and George and the Haymake team are quite right to be proud.

what did you want him to say? "i think i lost" what about degales comments all the way up to the fight, groves stood firm and didnt rise to the baiting and baiting that james did,i was absolutley made up he won well done george i look forward to many more of your post fight interviews wether you act like david haye or not. class if you ask me anyway do you have any more lemons you would like to suck on? obviously a degale fan

I enjoyed it live and the replay, probably a poor choice of wording, it was interesting as there was so much riding on it but the exchanges were often scrappy and there weren't enough sustained one so it was the factors surrounding it that gave it an edge. Similar to Smith-Quigley in some regards.

I disagree, KG. It was interesting, if not scintillating. Smith-Quigley was not only dull, it was as ugly a clash of styles as a two dollar Klingon hooker. Saturday was nowhere near as bad as that.

You just had this feeling of an upset as the predictions of KO's grew bolder and bolder from Degale.

Hat's off to both men for giving the fans a good occaision.

I hold neither man with any malice and they come across well in their own way.

And who care's if Groves is rubbing salt into the wound on Sky ? he is enjoying himself and who can blame him for it.
