Terrible fight, Cook doesn't deserve it and Burns has just been fighting bums since he beat Martinez.

Cook not a bum! Was former European feather champ for ages. Needs to prove himself before challenging for world title again.

As a sky subscriber , why should we swallow this cack ? WBO is joke trinket bauble.

Let's wheel out an old semi retired Cook and let Burn's 'make some coin' my arse.

Thats my feckin coin thank you very much.

Indeed- he does appear to be taking a bit of a soft touch root. But then, has the WBO always been a bit like that?

I remember eg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4WAUxUT4-g

I can assure everyone Rickys been asking for bigger fights and unification fights, hes more than ready imo, when he beats Nicky he should fight the mandatory or maybe Fana in a unification for Rickys belt and the Ring magazine belt, either of them he will win!

I believe that Fana was stripped of the IBF title.

Surely you as Rickys trainer should be aware that the IBF have stripped Fana.

If you are so keen on getting a unification bout for Ricky, why dont you call out the winner of the belt when Mendez and TBA contest it?

Your assessment of him stating that Ricky would beat him everyday could be put to the test.

Cook is not really the best preparation for a unification bout thats for sure

Could be a very entertaining fight.

This is clearly not a world Tiltle fight. The WBO belt means its an interim belt for the British Title level opponents. In reality, the WBO belt is a complete joke of a world title and this match up sums it all up. boxing is becoming WWE wrestling.

Dam straight !

This is right up there with World title Super featherweight fights such as:

Floyd Mayweather vs Diego Corralles
Pacquiao vs Morales I, II and III
Pacquaio vs Marquez II
Barrera vs Morales III

Previous 130 belt holders like Edwin Valero, Oscar De La Hoya, Acelino Freitas, Joel Casamayor, Azumah Nelson, Bobby Chacon and Hector Camacho's entire body of work dont graze this for 'entertainment'.

:-?

Mendez will get a boxing lesson from Ricky no two ways about it,thats IF he FIGHTS for and WINS the title, i think Lee Baird is getting a little excitable regarding training a world level fighter by himself if that is the case!
My advice would be at least win the title before shouting out opponents coz you could look a right FOOL otherwise.

When are you going to accept that a WBO belt is NOT a real world title belt and is generally competed for by boxers who need protecting and cannot win in genuine world class?

This has been going on for over 20 years and still it surprises you?

The justification will be that he was world champion only 2 fights ago.

Nobody can deny that this isnt exactly the mouthwatering matchup that people are hoping for but if Ricky is waiting on other fights happening then why should he just sit rotting away when he could keep himself active and pick up £££'s in the meantime.

Like anybody else i wanna see him tested but if thats not happening im still happy to watch him fight whenever he does so. Lets be honest although Burns v Cook isnt exactly what we would class as an exciting world title fight it will still be better viewing than some of the shows we see on sky anyway so its worth a watch.

If nothing happens soon with Burns getting a good opponent i wouldnt be surprised to see him thrown in with Martinez again. :box:
