Also, too much is being made out of Rhodes' unbeaten streak at 154; he has defeated only one fighter worth mentioning at the weight and he was given a relatively competitive bout by Vincent Vuma.

I think Canelo would have a bit more than Rhodes no matter where the bout was held, but with the bout taking place in Mexico, Alvarez might get an extra edge from the local support and favorable officiating.
Jamie Moore?

The story goes that Moore lost between 12 and 20lb in 3 days before the weigh-in. He beat the living daylights out of Rhodes for the first four rounds, couldn't stop him and was out on his feet.

The score cards did not show that? Why not get behind a British fighter and stop being a typical Brit and criticising success.

Its hard to tell how good alvarez actually is, if hatton could bang Alvarez would have taken a pasting. If anything it was only the fact that hatton was too small to hurt him that Alvarez could stay on the front foot, otherwise he would have been outboxed.

"Taken a pasting??????" - did you see the fight? Alvarez outlanded him 294-138 in the punch stats

I'd really love for Rhodes to win and to be honest imo the performances of Alvarez haven't justified the hype BUT he's facing a Mexican in Mexico for a Mexican belt. I just don't see Don Jose Sulaiman allowing Rhodes to leave with the belt unless he KO's Alvarez, even then the count will probably go to 20! Tough job for Rhodes.

Rhodes has had another solid week of prep.
He loves the heat - that won't be an issue - and he's totally in tune with the altitude issue.
Let's be honest this is a tough assignment for Ryan, but having been around the kid for longer than I care to recall, never have I seen him in better nick.
It is right that odds wise he's the second favourite but my oh my 8-1 ?!?
You might get a surprise fight night as well with the support in Mexico for Rhodes.
My forcast for what it's worth is a stoppage for Rhodes in rounds 6 to 8.
I don't see Ryan being unable to take his shots early on, and I think the young Mexican will get careless and get caught.
If Ryan hits the sweet spot he ain't getting up.

6-1 to win and now 10-1 for the tko as think we all agree that's the only way he coming home with the belt. U receiving post?

5/1 just to Win is a Big Price also, which I've taken. In a 2 Horse Race, 5/1 is good value!

Think he will have to knock him out to win so 10-1 on that seemed excellent. Glad you following suit and backing a good priced British contender. In boxing bets like this don't come up that often

maybe you should read what i said again. If hatton had been big and powerful enough to hurt alvarez then alvarez would have lost, he wouldnt have been able to walk though hattons punches to land his own. He had no movement, created no angles, didnt really show that much class, was very easy to hit and his defence was poor. He won that fight simply down to being the bigger stronger man not the better fighter.

I'm not sold on Alvarez. I think he's a solid light middleweight, but not one of the best. Cotto, Angulo, Williams and Martirosyan would beat him, imo. I think Rhodes has a chance here. Mini-Cotto, Jose Miguel Cotto, was able to hurt Alvarez, so there's no reason why Ryan can't.

He fought the fighter in front of him. One would assume that he would adjust tactics for who he was fighting. You are making the assumption that he can only fight one way.
If Hatton had been a banger, it is unlikely Alvarez would have just fought him straight on. Might as well have said that if Valuev was a slicker boxer, he would have outboxed Haye.

I could see where you were coming from if alverez hadnt been deeply dissappointed by his peformance, he clearly expected to demolish hatton and couldnt adapt when hatton kept coming at him. It was a poor peformance by alvarez who showed no signs of a boxing brain.

If Rhodes has any chance, he'll need to get Canelo out of there within about 4 rounds, 6 at the maximum. If Canelo uses his brain and puts his shots together nicely, I can see it being a wide UD win for the redheaded Mexican.

I like both of these guys, so I'm not really too bothered who wins.

I've seen Canelo's last 6-7 fights. The kid's a bit hyped up right now, but he's got all the tools to go a long, long way.
