i'm certain martinez was the top rated super featherwieght with ring when burns fought him. i remember commenting on exactly that both before and after the fight.
as you say though, doesn't really matter, my point is still relevant, burns beat a very highly rated fighter to win his title, cleverly was given his title for nowt!

I'm 100% sure that Fana was number one. I have the most recent issue prior to the fight.

Good to see your rankings Horse, I love to see how others rate and rank our fighters P4P. The only thing I would question is Rendall Munroe being so high?

Kell Brook should be in that top ten but other then that its a fair list in my opinion.

The level of fighters Lee has fought are a step above who Barker has fought,regarding titles Barker beat a second rate Spada for a title nobody wanted and as for the British and Commonwealth----enough said.
Lee is ranked no.6 in Boxrec ratings ,no.3 in wba and no.5 in ibf,they cant all be wrong,barker maybe challanging for a so called title but i think we all know its a severe mismatch!!!!

There isn't that much difference between the opponents of the two boxers. Belghecam and McKay are the common opponents. Lee dominated Belghecam for 9 rounds and Barker struggled with him for 12 rounds when fighting for the Vacant EBU belt. They both did a similar job on McKay. Craig McEwan is as good if not better than the boxers Barker has beaten in his domestic scraps. Spada is the level above and coupled with Lees single defeat is why Barker earns the right to be ranked higher. Titles such as British and Commonwealth shouldn't come into effect if Horse is going to include Irish fighters as the majority of them aren't eligible to fight for the belts. The gap between Lee and Barker on the list is too wide in my opinion but I think we will see the two swapping this time next year.

Barker has been inactive recently, so I can see why you think that Lee should be above him. I think the gap between them is maybe a bit too big, but I think Barker has beaten the slightly better opposition and he should be above Lee for now.

Hatton was a solid European champion and gave a respectable losing performance when moving up a weight to fight for a world title. There aren't many below him that have done something similar recently.

I would say that Murat is a world level opponent.

I think that Cleverly's last three opponents are better overall than Burn's last three, as well as his opponents in the last few years before then, so I think Cleverly should be ahead at the moment.

I have him so high mostly because of his European title reign in which he defended his title 5 times and beat Martinez x2 and Maludrottu. He lost by a wide points decision when he fought for a world title, but I don't think many fighters below him would do better in a similar situation, so I don't see that as a reason for him to be much lower in the rankings.

I think his current ranking is reasonable, but if he doesn't get any good wins in the next few months then he will fall down the rankings.

Hatton was comprehensively beaten by Craig Watson who is nowhere near your top 30. Could you honestly imagine Watson outboxing Kell Brook?
