You can be sure that if the same thing had happened to Klitschko, his camp, and in particular Emanuel Steward, would have been screaming about it till Doomsday. Emanuel is a great believer in getting all the little things right. He won't even let his fighter out of the corner with a drop of water on them. He thinks it will run into the shorts and make them heavy and uncomfortable in the later rounds, contributing to fatigue. Did the ring walk make Haye lose? No, but it certainly ruined his composure at a vital moment and made an uphill task that little bit harder.

One that I noticed was that Wlad was introduced first by Buffer. I thought one of teh key sticking points in negotiations was that Wlad, as champion, would be introduced second?

No - Wlad had objects thrown at his head on the way to the ring by our magnificent fans, and Steward hasn't even mentioned it. We are mentioning the ringwalk because it made Haye's top 25 excuses list.

And who ruined Haye's composure? The guys with the Millwall hooligans or Union Jack flags? And that is the fault of the Germans/Wlad's camp?

When the fight was being planned by the Germans, it was decided to give the two boxers separate ring walks. Wladimir got the one that was barricaded from the crowds and Haye did not. Everything is prepared meticulously for these events and unusual disparities like that are not accidental. And Emanuel Steward is not complaining about anything - simply because his man won. As has been pointed out, being made to walk virtually unprotected through a crowd of fans is unusual at any sporting event. The fact that the fans may have supported Millwall is not relevant. They were excited fans, and fans do what fans do.

I'm not disputing that the fighters were given different routes, or that this was an intentional ploy. I accept all that.

It has happened before many times to an away fighter and will happen again.

My point is that it was Haye's fans (see Millwall hooligans and UJ flags) that were grabbing hold of him in an overly aggressive manner. Pulling a boxer you are supporting back by the head on his way to the ring is not something 'fans do'. Or not civilised fans. Haye's path had some barriers and about 6 huge security guards. That is not 'virtually unprotected'.

The fact that security were not fully prepared to deal with drunk british 'fans' climbing over each other to grab Haye aggressively and frustrate him is not 100% the fault of the german organisers. Haye was sent on a different route with less room, but had OUR fans behaved then OUR fighter would have been absolutely fine.

I've been to many, many shows where the fighter is about 2 foot away during the walk and gets patted on the back by everyone or even walking through a gap in the seats with 2 security guards and there has been no problem. The Germans must laugh at us - almost injuring our own fighter on his way to the ring!

Well I certainly agree that Haye's "fans" that night didn't do him any favours!

i think haye was going to take wlads route but he insisted entering with an entourage & k2 thought well lets make it worthwhile.was wlad flanked... no :!: did wlad mess about coming to the ring...no. haye is paranoid & dont like his own medicine simple as :!:

as for the hooligans Dhaye has traded on bermondsey were he went school & millwall fc. i think it's the equivilant of a manc being from salford.

The war songs were just pathetic. We were surrounded by Klitshcko fans who were pretty vocal, but there was never any element of intimidation in it. They just support their fighter and that`s it.

I imagine a couple of Germans at the MEN Arena for the same fight, surrounded by the war song brigade, would have felt pretty uncomfortable. Some idiots think it`s clever to act like ignorant tits when they are abroad (and at home). I find it embarrassing.

It`s a problem in British society unfortunately. The majority of the lads I met out there were not looking for trouble at all, but you will always get an element.

I`m not saying the Germans are perfect, but they are far more tolerant than most and I don`t have a problem with them at all. What happened over 65 years ago is no reflection on the modern day Germans at all.
