aye, he was looking at by far his biggest chance to date, though, and you have to worry about a fighter who can't get 'up' for the preparation in that scenario.
Think it was more personal issues than a motivation problem

You can say that again.

I see Mitchell starting off like a man possessed - then crumbling quite dramatically at the 1st crisis.
He just comes across as walking a very fine line in regards to his confidence.

Precisely. You don't know his motive. It's likely for one that he wants in on future camps. If he says Mitchell has been slacking, that probably wont happen.
Yeah that's what I thought when I read it, he's obviously a favoured writer with the Mitchell camp
That's right - Rio does the press for TKO and Hard Knocks and other bits too.

That's why he's under 'BoxRec News' as a byline, which is where all our press release type stuff goes. I put his name in because I didn't have time to change every 'Rio' in the Q and A

I took out the bit where he said he was going to have a bet on 'our Kev' 8)

Aye, sometimes I do lose a bit of perspective...maybe I should have made it clearer. Anyway, I've done so now.

I've just put another bit up by him, actually - good lad is Rio.

Tweaked just a little bit. 8)

yea surely the introduction of Wide Boy and alround GEEZA Danny Dyer has swung this bout in Mitchells favour

i always wanted these two to fight. io just hope that it doesn't turn out to be another brook-jennings. jennings, of course, was coming off an even more emphatic beating, at the hands of cotto (just as mitchell was stopped by katsidis).

i hope that mitchell boxes positively. if so, i see him bringing the best out of murray.

i don't want to see murray fall behind, in the hunt for a world title. i hope he gets the right fights that wil build him toward a contest with a ruffian like brandon rios.

i don't like mitchell's use of the passive voice:

MURRAY WILL BE SMASHED TO BITS.

makes it sound like someone else is going to do it for him. he has to do it himself, and i don't think that's an easy task. makes me wonder whether he seriously intends to smash murray to bits (a boxing cliche).

Almost sounds like Kevin is trying to convince himself in that interview.

He thinks he sould have beat Katsidis. Audley like delusion.

I think it will be competitive early on, but I think Murray will overtake at some point. He seems to be the more intelligent boxer. Murray will only be smashed to bits if he fights someone like Brandon Rios or Michael Katsidis.

There has been much talk of how well-matched the battle with Murray (31-0, 18 KOs) will be, but Mitchell doesn't see it that way.

"People keep saying this is a 50-50 fight, but if I had beaten Katsidis by performing the way I should have done, this fight wouldn't even be happening," Mitchell said.

"John is a good fighter, but they would be calling this a mis-match, because I have been fighting at world level and he hasn't.

"Because I have been beaten, they are now doubting me, but I'll show on Saturday it's not a 50-50 fight.
Very strange comment from Mitchell there seeing as he's had one fight at world class and was destroyed. He must have spent more than that £100k on drink etc after the Katsidis fight for him to believe that

I'd imagine he considers the Prescott fight as World level.

Murray`s got this one. Just too tough for Mitchell. I can see a stoppage late on.
