Holmes didn't duck anybody.....period.

But given the luck that Shavers had against Larry....(and as you have enlightened us, Ernie wasn't much of power puncher) I have always suspected that with just a bit more luck than Shavers had, that would be a fight that you just might want to sit out on, regarding making predictions.

Yep....I believe Holmes would want to be smart, and want not to engage in a brawl, but Larry would often buck up and get primal when his pride was at stake. And that could cost him.

Skill vs Skill I'd go with Larry.... However one should never count out a rather skilled devastating puncher like Foreman......and of course unlike Larry.....no one ever did.

Another outrageous LIE ..... You KNOW they were both counted out... George at age 25... Holmes at age 38

George by a light hitter as he stumbled around in a circle and fell down... Maybe he was drugged like he claims.

Holmes by one of the most devastating hitters in Boxing History, when he was an old man, loaded with ring rust.

And by the way.... Another LIE of yours is that I said Shavers wasn't much of a power puncher... Shavers could punch well... However, since he couldn't get Quarry out... couldn't get Bob Stallings out... couldn't get Ron Stander out.... couldn't get Lyle out... couldn't get Cobb out... couldn't get Mercado out... and couldn't get several others out... He wasn't a power puncher on the scale of a Tyson, Foreman, Wilder, Joshua, Liston, Louis, Lewis, the Klitschkos, or a few others.

He lacked the size and strength for one thing... Those big Heavyweight could absorb his shots.

Ok...yeah I exaggerated...a little.....I've been hangin' out with you for too long.

But at least I gave you something so you could pretend not to get the point. And that is my gift to you.

So let's sort it this way. The ineffectual good puncher (Shavers) almost get's Larry out.......

So...it stands to reason that the EFFECTUAL good puncher (Foreman) has an even better chance.

Or am I still the lamest mind on the block, and just couldn't figure these things out, even if I had TWO of you to explain this to me?

And don't be shy....tell me what you really think of my reasoning here.

It doesn't stand anything.... Shavers fought Holmes twice... The first time he was younger and better and didn't get a meaningful punch on Larry... Holmes got careless in the rematch as he did against Snipes.

Because Henry Cooper caught Ali and almost put him away - it doesn't follow that Earnie Shavers or Ron Lyle would catch Ali for sure cuz they're better punchers than Cooper.. That's flawed logic.. Each boxer has a different delivery and trajectory for their best power punch.. Each boxer has defensive vulnerabilities that can be exploited by somebody.

Cuz you can hit a certain pitcher doesn't necessarily mean a better hitter can... These things are so hard for you.

At that time Foreman ate more jabs than even Shavers did... Not helpful against Larry Holmes.

I tend to agree. Bowe was good in brawling, he was bigger, had a pretty good chin and, what's the most important, was more solid boxer from the technical side, so he had everything to beat George.

It depends on how patient Foreman was... He had massive patience waiting all night for Michael Moorer to make a mistake.. He might be behind early, but Bowe had a weak mentality like Norton... Foreman can't come into training camp fat and he has to train right... He was perfect for Frazier.. If you're too fat coming into camp you lose up to 6 weeks of sparring because you're getting tagged so much it's not helping you..

Bowe's head was right there for a big man to jab and score with rights... Foreman was a great right hand puncher... His right is underrated because he didn't get it on Young and Ali.. That was a training camp issue.. He was 10 pounds too fat for Young.. If you want to go 12 hard ones you need to be ripped to the gills.. His defense was no worse than Bowe's so he could get right in on top of him.. George had a few mental and disciplinary issues in his early days, but you felt sorry for guys like Frazier and Norton because he intimidated them so badly.. He knew he was going to smash them.
