Yep, and camcorders are quite cheap now. I think it's worth trying out.
i'm pretty niffty with the intertubes and has been a camerman in college for a fake crimewatch tv show in my forensics class

How would you go about it? Connect an HD camcorder via USB and stream it in webcam mode?

yeah hooked up to a Laptop or a tablet. a constant power supply would be needed batteries tend not to last long enough to to do a full boxing show on an hour or so. if you want the clocks up etc that this hatton stream has you'd need some more expertise than i have but i'm sure it would be simple to learn if someone showed you.

With the right webcam software, I'm sure an overlay would be possible. If someone wanted to get a bit more clever, they could hook up a microphone and feed the audio through separately as camcorder mics are usually pants. I'd get some bright lights as well, because it would make everything look much better.
