I bought the graphic novel of it recently, great story. Nemesis the warlock was pretty amazing, as was Rogue Trooper.

That was a real quality comic book.

Slaine was very good when it started, but got very silly towards the end.

Mike McMahon is one of my favoutite artists ever.

I got about 85 quid for 1-14 I think, they were in good condition but yellowing sadly still got loads of others. Yeah Mean Machine I remember he got stuck on 9 and half and went butting nuts! Fink Angel and ratty were great too.

Yeah i have the colour reprint comic series of Nemesis and Glenn Fabry was my fave Slaine artist.

Brian Bolland is and was fecking awesome and drew Dredd perfectly. Those oil powered jet packs are dangerous btw jon.

Sorry to derail off onto comic talk but I used to love 2000AD.

Bolland was peerless on Dredd but it took him so damn long to draw more than 4 pages that they couldn't use him for more than a couple of issues in a row.

Ezquerra is my favourite artist after Bolland, I've got a lot of his work, even the pre 2000AD stuff. Gibbons was immense too (although looked pretty stupid as Tornado's editor).

My brother got me a Belardinell page of original art (the opening section of Flesh book II from prog 95), it looks all weird when it's tippexed out and written on in a massive piece of paper.

McMahon could be amazing but annoyingly patchy - his artwork got increasingly odder from the early 80s, same with O'Neill, he was a bit crazy sometimes. Steve Dillon was pretty good too but he rarely got given something for more than a couple of issues. His Dredd stuff was spot on.

I hated Halo Jones, same with Zenith, although I'd just about stopped reading the comic by then.

Ezquerra was great, Belardanelli was not the best..Mcmahon did loads of Dredd and was quality.
Jon Saxon Pugh was poor compared to Fabry.

Loved Dillons art, Bolland, Leach (who was a great Bolland copycat) and many others, so much talent worked on 2000ad it was unreal.

In fact it was THE best mag in the world (obviously besides 'Warrior' Britains greatest ever comic) and recently I went and picked up a new one. sadly it's pile of shite now, horrible art crap stories with no imagination.

Very difficult to say without seeing the books, but even if it's got robust margins at the moment, any potential buyer would have to seriously question its long-term viability in the digital era and that would clearly have a detrimental impact on its perceived value. You only have to look at what's happened to the share prices of those publishers like Future and Trinity Mirror that are publicly listed to see how they're not regarded as serious long-term investment propositions.

I'm not 100% sure myself, but just have a dim recollection of him having something like that when he was on the alien planet.

I thought of Wolfie Smith but he was all telekinesis and stuff.

If I had time this weekend I'd have a dig around in the loft, but i don't. I don't think it's ever been reprinted, or if it has it was a fairly obscure reprint. I'll ask my bro, he might remember and he has a lot of reprint stuff.
