A weak after McCloskey/Frampton/O'Kane in the Odessey.

Same night as the Smiggilets fill the Olympia in Liverpool.

A headline fighter that has no real support in Ireland.

Tough ask for Hennessey.

They need a name for Fury to fight to draw a crowd. The first name that springs to mind is Rogan. In reality he is the only name that can fill a venue with Fury.

Other possibilities are Coleman Barrett, who has the Irish title and Fury has said that he wants that title, Kevin McBride, who suffered a heavy KO defeat last weak and I wouldnt like to see him fight again or maybe even big bad Auds!!

They also need a good undercard with ticket sellers. Good "local" ticket sellers that are not already involved in other bills include Martin Linsday, Ryan Greene, Stephen Haughian.

As its a Channel 5 show and Mayweather-Ortiz is on Primetime, then 5 may use the show as a two hour long promo for that PPV.

An interesting move.

Would it not better to have a fight in Irlend in October rather than a week after Mccloskey/Frampton bill? I agree only ROgan is going to help fill a venue. Martin Lindsay could be fighting Smith?

I agree, of course it would be better to have it in October.

But I have a feeling that Channel 5 have asked them to align the date with the Mayeather-Ortiz PPV fight on their sister channel Primetime.

It wont sell that well a week after mccloskey fight as people probably can't afford two weeks fights on the trot. Has rogan been approached? Also is fury popular in irlend?

McCloskey & Frampton and Rogan & Lindsay draw two totally different crowds.

It doesnt need to be in the Odessey, the Ulster Hall is a nice venue and only 1,500 capacity for boxing or the Kings Hall is 6500 capacity for boxing.

"fury popular in ireland?" He isnt unpopular. He fought internationally twice for Ireland and won on both occasions. It was looking like he was going to represent Ireland in the Olympics until a Belfast club put in an objection about him.

He got a very good reception when he fought on the Bernard Dunne undercard but didnt put on a good performance infront of a very large crowd, so he failed that audition but I understand he injured he hand early in that fight.

His profile has increased significantly since the Channel 5 outing so that will help.

Is Lindsay still with Maloney? I imagine they use the Kings Hall then.

it would be interesting if it was Meehan - didn't the BBBoC reject him for the Khan vs McCloskey undercard.

Actually that got me thinking - can a sanctioning body overule the BBBoC decision say if a fighter was deemed sanctionable to fight for a "non British" title - do the board still have the final say.... e.g. For example had Haye defended against Holyfield and the WBA approved it.

there's no way rogie would sell out the oddysey at this stage, or anywhere near it. would be safer having it in the ulster hall, especially as it's the week after a big card.

didn't realise the mayweather/ortiz card was on primetime, gits

Yeah, I couldnt see Rogie-Fury filling the Odessey but if they could get Martin Lindsay as well and a few others they could do the Odessey.

There was a real split reaction to Rogies injury situation in Rogie-Sexton II. Lots of people turned against him for that and thought he should have pulled out.

If Fury is looking to defend in Northern Ireland then Rogan is the natural choice and should be an exciting contest. Rogan's a bit past his best and his durability is probably slipping, but his punch power is still good and can test Fury. It's certainly a decent enough 1st defence, especially if Price is on the near horizion.

Fury's size and enthusiasm should be too much for Rogan to cope with.

Presumably a Commonwealth title defence. Hennesy has good links with Canada.

If the Rogan fight doesn't happen, this is a good experience for Fury.

Tough night for Fury if this fight happens. Could show what both fighters are really about.

This is a big fight if it happens. Shocked it is even being talked about myself, but credit to both if it comes off.
