Realistically, where do you place Brook in the world rankings? 7/8/9 or do you reckon he's the best at the weight?
Do you still have Herol Graham at number one and Jarvis Cocker at number two?
:)
To be honest mate, I think Jarvis' recent inactivity would mean i'd have to have him just sliding out the top 10.
On a serious note, clearly Mayweather and Pacman are the best in the division. Now, if i just take a look at The Ring's Top 10 ... (Kell is at number nine)
Right, out of that lot, of those above him in the rankings, i'd back Kell to beat Jackiewicz, Zaveck, Senchenko and Jones right away. However, I suspect that Jackiewicz is probably the weakest of those guys (even though he is Ring's #6 in world) and I'm glad Kell is boxing him first. He needs a stepping stone fight before taking on the rest.
After one or two more fights AT THIS HIGH LEVEL, i think he's got a great chance against either Ortiz or Berto. However, i don't think he'd be ready to jump in class to their level yet - he just doesn't have the experience.
In short, other than the Big Two, I give Kell every chance of beating all the rest IN DUE COURSE, WHEN HE HAS A LITTLE MORE EXPERIENCE. He learned so much from the Ndou fight and hopefully the Jackiewicz fight will be similarly beneficial.
As for the Amir debate, i think that's a great fight and one that would be fantastic for British boxing. I didn't see the Judah fight and apparently Amir looked great in that fight. But i can definitely say that before that fight, i would have put my house on Kell to KO him and to be honest, i think i still would. Then again, I thought Degale would absoilutely take the piss out of Groves and that Haye would chin Wlad in the first six rounds! So what do i know?
Kell Brook turned pro SEVEN YEARS ago, what are you all waiting for? Let him off the leash against the elite.
This guy he's in with next has lost NINE fights.....NINE. Solid and durable? Yes. But he's not a step up.
And you lot mention a Jennings rematch more than I do! That ship has sailed, but I truly believe the "stepping stone" fights should have been and gone.
Berto would box his ears off, I wouldn't let him near Ortiz but I do believe he'd have too much for Jones and Gomez.
As for Cocker? Maybe a wide UD :)

Whilst I agree with this it is interesting to speculate what the reaction would have been if FW had made this fight??
Just saying....................

If FW had been the promoter he'd have been slated for picking the easiest opponents and scything a path to a world title without his charge breaking sweat, the same way he was when Calzaghe defeated Eubank to become world champion and Hatton did vs Tszyu...
Real easy fights those two!

I agree with your point about Brook stepping up, but don't worry about an opponent having a lot of losses. Who they beat is more important. Otherwise you're doing someone like Glen Johnson a great disservice.

Not sure if I agree (just yet) that he would get his ears boxed ofas we havent saw him in any tough situations yet.
I just want to see him in deep, even before Khan had Prescott he had Limond & Gomez and despite eveyone bringing Khan down I knew he had some heart.
I just have seen Brook in deep in anyway, not even in a rel hard fight let alone getting dropped, he hasn't been in with anyone with a real big pulse yet.
Can't to see If he's the real deal or not.

I'm not worried about anything mate! Johnson has a lot of losses, but he's also got a lot of pedigree and was a world champion with big wins on his CV.
This guy has none of the above.
I can't understand why people are still calling for him to gain experience before going for it.....if you believe in your talent why wait? Why hang around, put more miles on the clock and tread water?
At least Witter took the Judah fight, even if he didn't do himself justice.
If Manny Pacquiao turned around to Brook and offered him a fight now, do you think he'd take it?

EXACTLY
He's never even been hit back yet and he's in a world title eliminator against a B-rate opponent and would then fight a B-rate champion in arguably the sport's toughest division. Go figure.
He's hero-worshipped on the basis that one day he could be something special.
Brook's been a pro since 2004. In the lower weights (middleweight and below) you don't get better with age. Few do anyway.
He's a good boxer, let's see him prove whether he's great

He would actually but that would probably be bonkers!
This guy is ultimately rated #6 by The Ring. So he cant be criticsed as an opponent for a guy who is trying to work his way to a world title shot. I agree about FW sometimes getting criticised unfairly for match-making but all i can say is that if he had made this match then i would have said it was a good test for Kell.
I don't know anyone who would say that there is anything wrong with smart match-making. The problem comes when there is a mismatch. I know that no-one does it deliberately but when it does happen, you can understand why it draws criticsim. I expect that all promoters can reflect on matches they have made and realise that the match was not competitive. It happens - all that fans ask is that promoters do their best to deliver the best, most competitive and good-value matches possible

Stop being so diplomatic, Danny Boy :)
"Jennings for President, down with Brook"......
That said, at least Brook is a glimmer of light for you boys while the Owls and Blades fight it out down the divisions, can not believe how far those two have fallen.
Then again, at least you don't support Wrexham :(

I once had to settle out of court pay an act 5k because I said something in retaliation but they said about me it in private but and I was young and dumb(er) and said my response in a newspaper.
When I wrote the cheque I put "five thousand pounds and not a penny more" they did cash it, years later their manager told me that they really liked what I had written.....still a sore one though.
That said Dan if I had known what I now know about the legal system now, I would have just went all the way to court as they wouldnt have (I believe) went all the way because it would have cost them too much.
So I know from first hand experience that you do learn the hard way day.

I think brooks got real potential to be a world champ his had a rocky road seems all behind him now he has always kept him self in peak condition and beat whoever was put in front of him Fw has a lot to answer for in stalling his progress for years his loss long term not capitalising on Kell while he had him was bad business IMO .
Hopefully his ambition will be matched by that of joey essex

and matchroom will steer him to the top he deserves it .

I'm not saying that you should or should not be a kell brook fan, but it's harsh to say that this opponent isn't world class. Yes he has some defeats from long ago, but look what he's done in the last few years, and his world ranking positions with Ring and the alphabets.
If Kell wins, i thnk he will deserve real credit.

This is really getting a bit disrespectful at the end of the day people really judge kell on this forum ok he's had some bumpy moments but end of the day whoever is put in front of him he has delt with he dose not choose his opponents he just beats them and he comes across tops on t v a just don't get why people are so bitchy towards this guy..... He is the next British world champ ....period

Brook's opponent, Jackiewicz, has had 2 razor thin fights against the current Boxrec number 5. Are only the top 4 welterweights World class?

Jackiewicz had his two close fights with Zaveck whos only boxed out of Europe once(a decent win in South Africa)id imagine Berto would beat him quite convincingly.. Yes his win over Bonsu stands out,but i wouldnt say that deserves such a high rating...

If you think Berto and Pacquiao and Mayweather aren't as good as Brook then you're insane, and I don't care where you're from.
PS Why would anyone be anti-Sheffield?! I'm anti-biased posts.....simple.
