:TU:

Both he and Lonnie Bennett were exceptionally talented, I thought. The latter just lacked the durability. Both had superb left hands. Great jabs.

Agreed. I think this was a bigger upset than Tyson/Douglas, because Douglas had at least established a track record against top HWs prior to the Tyson fight. Prior to his upset over Ali, Norton's best win was probably against fringe contender Henry Clark, while Douglas had beaten Williams, Berbick and McCall leading up to the Tyson fight.

A massive upset at the time definitely one of the biggest upsets of all time... Just reminded of an old chap I used to work with who said he sparred with Randolph Turpin when he was younger, he said Turpin gave him a black eye so he didn't want to spar with him again

Sure it was huge, but, 42-1 huge? No fuckin' way. Douglas' performances against : Mike Williams, Oliver McCall, Trevor Berbick & Tony Tucker showed that Douglas (when properly prepared & motivated) was a dangerous HW.
I agree, but you have to remember, Tyson was walking through guys such as Spinks & Carl Williams, who were, so the experts said, a lot better than Douglas.

Douglas-Tyson is THE One rematch I'd have loved to have seen more than any other!
