Yeah - they are carrying the Virgin logo on their site, but no channel number yet. I hope they get this sorted by the 30th, otherwise the 'free until November' thing means f**k all to me.

And what exactly does this smarmy fella have to do with boxing ?

Is he supposed to add 'credibility' to it ? a disgraced presenter sacked from Sky ? I think the allegedly team should have swerved that idea when whomever floated it.

Cue RICHARD_KEYS to join the forum and suddenly start debating and threatening to sue us all.

:OhYes:

When I first read this talking about Richard Keys becoming a presenter on allegedly. My response was what the hell and what does he know about Boxing as well, but like Steve Rider who has been mentioned who is currently back on ITV and doing a wonderful job on the Rugby World Cup he is a journalist by training and will answer the probing questions of the experts who will on there with him, but when you mention Rider he seriously knows stuff his about football, rugby and motor racing going back from his days on Grandstand when he was for me Mr Saturday Afternoon growing up.

But we will give Keys time on allegedly, but I would prefer Rosenthal myself. But what I do I kow.

Key's actually used to be the "man" for the early PPV bills.

Still don't see much point of him, Rosenthal and Dempsey.... unless it is him presenting and Rosenthal commentating.... but what about John Rawling then?

He's done well to say he looks like a close up of Tom Selleck's top lip in a suit.

The Steve Rider point someone made before is a good one and folk like keys / Rider are good at what they do, generally asking the right questions while holding the broadcast together.
There show awful really dull. They have fornicate all knowledge outside premier league.

Imagine Andy Gray trying his sexist chat with our Jane, I give him 20 mins before she would knock him out.

I don't listen to it very often but when I have it seems alright but maybe that's just
me slipping into middle age

I remember Paul Dempsey doing an on-site piece from Vegas for that fight, so yeah, Keys could have been the studio presenter. It was October 1990 and Douglas weighed in at 246. Holyfield's camp knew they'd won the fight after the weigh-in. Simon Reed did the commentary and I think Mickey Duff was the analyst.

Anorak.

It was with FW on Talksport where they said "shock the world".

In the same interview he referred to Froch as Frock. I take it he knows not much about todays game?

The 2 Mikes together were quality. I don't listen to much UK radio due to being in Spain so I guess when I hear any it will always seem better than it actually is. Glyn was giving me a hard time for liking H & J a few months back so it seems I maybe a little out of touch :(

H&J are shite, I turn off after 1pm. Spurs Chelsea Spurs Chelsea, bores me to death!

I'll believe it when I see it.

allegedly will give Keysey the big build up in the weeks before his debut - pulling in former colleagues and pundits he's worked with to give it the big sell, then about 3 days before the big one, he'll contract a mystery virus and allegedly will draft in that hapless Otis bloke from the C4 athletics.

Other than the Spurs Chelsea thing, I like H and J. It is the best show on Tawk Spawt. Now, I know that's not saying much but try listening to Goldstein and Cundy for a bit of perspective.

'The Sports Bar'? :shame:

Talk Sport is risible. H&J can be a bit too cosy and in-jokes at times but they are better than all the other shows combined.

I remember someone phoning in about boxing and it sent Brazil into nostalgia land for about 45 seconds as his pickled brain tried to recall the names of yesteryear. Only for him to mention Ray Mancini and say oh yeah what weight did he fight at? Middleweight wasn't it? Great fighter....Beaky didn't even try and correct him.

By the looks of it, it doesn't seem to have made most of todays newspapers. I only see it in one when I did a news search... I'm actually quite surprised by that, I thought it would have been more prominent being his first job back after leaving Sky.

I wasn't a fan of Goldstein and Cundy but they're probably the most enjoyable slots I've done on TS, surprised me. Deceptively 'dumb' IMO

I remember David Pleat once saying about Irishman Tommy Gaynor's pace - on whom he was commentating for TV -

"he's more deceptive than he looks".

Good old Pleat.

i have always enjoyed H&J so it's nice to know i'm not alone and to there credit they do talk a bit of boxing.
H & J are growing on me a bit but they're still a pair of supercilious middle class twats - IMO
