I do like the fact that BoxRec folk are picking the winners though.
It was my idea, and it's completely original in a sense I never heard of Frank Maloney doing it previously, and when I suggested it to him he never mentioned he'd done it before, also if spencers done it previously I've never heard of it and by the sounds of it a lot of you guys haven't either which completely defeats the idea of The concept raising the profile of fighters by rewarding them for outstanding performances and giving fans good fights.

Further to this, too many small hall shows feature bob jones 12-0 (2ko's) against mike smith 17-89-8 (1ko)- they have 40-36 written all over them! The idea that a journeyman has the chance to win a commission bonus purely by putting in a sincere performance will lead hopefully to them taking more chances. This unfamiliar exertion could lead to fatigue and mistakes being made (more ko's) or upsets (more interest).

Further to this I suggested that winners not be announced till the end of the night hopefully retaining the crowd longer- this in turn will allow attendees to familiarise themselves with the promoters other fighters and as such build more of a following.

I wanted the prizes to be significantly more, and I'd also like the websites and press to report and record winners; imagine featuring five times fight of the night winner 'Peter vaughn' against 3 time ko of the night winner Martin concepcion! It's creates a talking point, a selling tool and a it's a bit fun.
This is very good for boxing and we did do something like this for about 6 shows we use to get the paying public to sent in there votes who they believe was the best boxer on the night, it just dry up as the public fan's just stop senting in votes there was all way a voting form in the programme r they could vote on line.

So what would the guys from boxrec be looking for in the 'best away fighter' one, would it be the away boxer who actually wins a fight, or the loser of a bout that is in a more exciting fight?

and why can't we have nobbins anymore?

Id say the most exciting fight, they would want to be careful tho for the sake of £200. There is a lot of Journey men that could beat the pospect on the night but dont as they wouldn't get as much work...

The incentives was a great idea. Shame a couple of the boxers didn't make it to the end of the night, but hopefully, if Steve Goodwin repeats it they will.

This idea is being used once again on 3rd December at York Hall under Olivia Goodwin promotions with on e slight modification:

Still cash prize for
1) Best Knockout
2) Best away boxer

But instead of fight of the night whre cash prize is split the third prize will be for

3) Performance of the night

Really makes the night more interesting

Steve - a suggestion....

Create a new thread on here and list the winners each time you do this on a show....

Like this....

Holiday inn, Bradford 4th september 2011

Best prospect- John wayne (w pts 6 will smith)
Best knockout- bob monkhouse (w ko 1 John doe)
Best opponent-Steve Austin (L pts 6 danny boy)

Stick them on your website too- then people will remember the fighters and be interested reviewing the contests.

Maybe start your own new thread so it doesn't get lost- then you can edit the original post and post any replies underneath!!!

So just amend the opening post each time you have a show. Call me if you don't get what I mean!

Video of each would be nice too then you could get people to vote for the overall best of the month or season
