He'll even when he rematched Patterson and chuvalo it was for tuneups not because people were actually calling for those fights. I don't recall any ground swell of support for a rematch outside of the uk if there was any there.

You didn't respond to....

Just admit it, Duran landed at least 10 low blows, including one after the bell, as well as elbows and heads.

I didn't because as I said, in the last three rounds along e bchanan threw several low blows himself and held constantly. Or are we only focusing on duran here

I'm focusing on Duran because of my original question. Yes Buchanan did hold and threw the odd low blow, but what you seem to be ignoring is that Duran was throwing low blows etc from early in the fight. If Mills Lane was ref'ing that one, Duran would have been deducted points and would have been forced to fight a cleaner fight or get DQ'd. I repeat, Duran won the fight by landing a low blow after the bell. Watch it again and watch Buchanan's reaction in slow motion - he's in agony.

Back to your original question: The answer is that LoBianco didn't see the low blow. If you look at the tape (as I just did), he's behind Duran; his view was blocked by Duran. I suspect he simply didn't see it, or didn't see where it landed, and he treated it like any other fight in which a boxer fails to answer the bell. No conspiracy; LoBianco didn't "job" him. The ref just missed it.

Now, that said, LoBianco had to know he was in a bad position to see what happened. He also had to know something had happened. (I mean, Buchanan's rolling around on the floor clutching his balls in obvious agony.) I think what he should have done was ask the judges what they saw, and acted accordingly.

But, regardless, I think the bigger question is why Buchanan never got his rematch.

Buchanan was way behind on the cards but was still trying to fight back desperately. He was a proud man and I don't think he'd just take the easy way out and pretend to be hurt.

this is true and like Klompton says, it was Kenny who instigated it in the first place with his firing shots after the bell. He was losing, he fouled just the same by continuing to throw punches, he didn't have any real chance of winning!

this is like Turpin v SRR II, Robinson was winning, the commentator even mentions turpins lack of business (or something to the effect), I have watched these fights numerous time.

Our boys were on the losing end, watch them like a boxing fan and not an englishman!

That was after being fouled against for the whole fight. Who knows how the fight would have gone if Duran hadn't been allowed to get away with so many illegal blows.
