I do prefer Gary Newborn as the Anchor as opposed to Dave Darts. I do wonder how much imput the Anchor has on what is on the Autocue.... cause when Newbon is Anchor the style feels so different, to Dave Darts.... eg. the Kid Gallahad fight last night introduced as "And Kid Gallahad won the first two rounds as we move to the third"..... that just reminded me of "fight night" back in the day - anchored by Newbon.... do they have some imput on it?

People have been really OTT of the criticism of Watt in recent weeks - he gets a week off and now look at this thread. Watt is the man, and where is McGuigan? (off to allegedly I wonder?).

Well 100% agree with Steve. SKY pays the bills, the commentators do, to a degree, though sometimes through gritted teeth. what they are told.

Barry has done it several times, it's got to be said.

How does Smith wield such power

It clearly is not from talent or knowledge, his father can't have that much influence.

I am surprised no one has picked up on and incredible lack of anyone on sky last night picking up on a godawful and early stoppage.

I come to boxrec now only when I have something big in mind that I want to see what other fans think, happens once every couple weeks. Today I have been fuming with the stoppage and that Sky backed it.

But this thread is bang on, I do not care less whether Adam Smith is now the big cheese at Sky, he is a nice chap clearly but a rubbish commentator, his tone is annoying and he is an excitable child who does not talk about much relevance in the fight, just babbles on with rubbish

Nelson I can tolerate but my all time worse is McGuigain, I would like to smash that little paddy right in the mouth to be honest. He tries to act like he is super intelligent with the longest words ever, he sounds like he has swallowed a thesaurus and makes him sound a twat. I also hear that he knows little and is prodded with the facts to keep on track

Further, McGuigan being in the HOF is a joke, he is such an overrated knobber

Well shall have to wait to see on that one, will you be allowed to say a boxer isn't a true world champion? say if he's fighting for an interim title, or will you have to go through the hype like they do on Sky

Yeah to what extent will you tow the line? They are your paymasters after all. I thought you did a really good job on Setanta as you seemed to have a free reign. It went some way to restoring some credibility after being Audley Harrisons cheerleader for the BBC. I can only imagine you were towing the line there.

Surely you can see their output matches their promoter alliances/contracts. PF is Hearn, that is why it's being pushed strongly. Always has done, as Bunce made the point earlier - they've always pushed their "name" fighters. Why promote someone else's product?

I believed in Audley!
SKY saved boxing, fact. It doesn't mean that they are immune to criticism.
I will call fights by their official title.

Yes, I haven't forgot Buncey spouting what he must have known to be complete rubbish for the BBC.

I can't imagine his new paymasters being any less demanding regarding the line he toes.

I suspect they will play the tune and Buncey will dance to it. (With lots of gurning, but that is a seperate matter - )

Hope I'm proven wrong as he DID seem to have some independent thoughts when on Setanta.

Bunce has no right to criticise anyone for toeing the line after his shenanigans on BBC. The chap was banging on and guaranteeing viewers that Audley would beat both Klitschkos and be the undisputed champion after Aud had beaten the likes of the dutch sonny liston.

Bunce comes on here and is selectively answering the questions asked which says it all really.

I understand that most presenters have to tow the line, it is their job they have bills to pay too. McGuigan has been one of the worst, but he is a different fella if you speak to him privately.
You have to blame the people in charge.
Bunce however has the temerity to play the Honest Joe and be the first to criticise folk for doing exactly the same as him.
His selective answers on here highlight that.
Given more of a free reign he did a great job on Setanta which most appreciated but as was shown with the BBC he does what he has to do to earn a living. Fair enough, but he makes himself look ridiculous with his hypocracy. Remember he also said Dominic Negus could have been a great on that pseudo gangster Dyer series.
