In reality his retirement date isn't untill he can't do what he once did..............

So realistically it is about 5 years from now !!

When Mayweather first "retired" he knew he could come back and still be young enough to have retained his skills. Haye knows that he can wait 2 years if neccessary for another shot at the Klits, even though i'm convinced he would never beat them. The Klitschko's are running out of credible opponents and Haye will always be a big money earner.

You were 'excited' by that Ruiz fight.

Ruiz was basically in sem-retirement and completely finished as a fighter. The fight was a disgrace, and completely typical of Haye.

How exactly does a boxing license work? The only sporting licence I've held was an ACU license for motorbike racing(if you're interested that career lasted about 3 rounds of club racing before ending in a gravel trap surround by bits of my bike and couldn't afford to put it back together again ) and you had to renew it every year(though obviously I never did) and had to have random medicals and shit and you could lose it for dangerous riding, bad behaviour etc. Do boxing licenses work similar like having to pay renewal fees etc? I know you can lose them for being an arse and all that, does being banned by the BBBofC mean some other boards follow suit or do they have different criteria.

It is clearly a smokescreen. Haye has zero bargaining power, Vitali's probably trying to have them over the table in negotiations so Haye gets someone to send this email, Smith reports it to the press and we all go nuts. In Haye's mind Vitali may offer him something better for the mooted Feb meeting. I doubt it, this is Haye's final card, it is a poor one and he may have been too clever for his own good as VK can call his bluff and force him to not only publicly backtrack but accept whatever terms are on offer, and I imagine they are tough terms.

He could get his licence back and Application to Box Abroad in a matter of days so no biggie if he hands it in.

As pointed out this is purely gamesmanship from Haye and Booth to strengthen their bargaining position for the Vitali fight.

David Haye vs Vitali Klitschko is happening in February/March and will take place in a German football stadium if both sides can agree on financial terms.
