Williams deserved nothing from this one with his attitude. At the end of the fight he was hardly out of breath, which means he is either incredibly stupid or just lazy. If he had so much 'in the tank' why the hell didn't he use it and finish Sprott off?

And for him to say that the whole arena though he'd won is a joke. From where I was sitting he got booed constantly and everyone seemed quite happy that he didn't get it.

He never hurt Sprott once.

I seem to remember Williams saying last week that the reasons for moving to Warren would become clear with a big announcement this week.
Assuming he'd won of course.

Now what was that gonna be I wonder? Probably a Sam rematch or a WBO shot ( a loss might have helped him move up the WBO rankings )

So who gets the big prize now? I doubt FW will move Sprott into either fight somehow, but I think Skelton might find himself being moved very quickly this year.

This fight was very difficult to score I thought and due to Williams' lack of appetite for the fight, I for one, have no real complaints about Sprott winning.

What the hell were Sprott's corner thinking of by telling him he was four rounds behind with two to go? That totally deflated him and may well have cost him the fight if Dave Paris wasn't so pissed off at Williams' antics.

All in all, a bad advert for British boxing. Skelton and Harrison would have beaten both of these guys.

I didn't see this as a robbery at all... Williams fought an awful fight and gave a lot of rounds away with his ridiculous antics... Sprott done all the persuing early and some good solid work that one some of the close rounds when Williams was behaving like a clown. Sprott seemed gunshy and let Danny off the hook when it looked like a good attack would have finsihed Danny off. I couldn't believe Sprotts corner... their attempts to psyche 'up' Sprott later on in the fight when he had Williams in trouble had completely the opposite effect... almost costing him the fight.... makes me wonder how well they know Sprott... they certainly used the wrong approach with him... he needed positive encouragement not the garbage they came out with. All in all Sprott deserved to win despite him giving away the last rounds when he seemed to have given up hope (nice corner work!)... as for Williams he's becoming a bit of a joke really, his approach to the fight and behaviour in it was a disgrace ...he seems to have lost his nerve and his desire and is going nowhere.... actually I think he should quit... a fighter is asking for trouble when they carry on despite not wanting to fight anymore....

Evening all. Just watched the fight on tape (managed to keep away from the result) and must say I didn't see it as a robbery either. Sprott's lethargy in the last couple of rounds was surprising when on the cusp of a career best victory you stop throwing punches? Bizarre.

I did notice at the start of the 10th that Williams caught Sprott with a punch that really made him wince, I think the swelling then came up from this and also coincided with Sprott once again withdrawing into his shell, so maybe that was also the reason.

I'm afraid IMO Danny Williams is something of a 'never was', people talked about like he had the ability to become an established world class performer if he just got his mental act together but I never really saw this in him, maybe some people were fooled by that languid fluid looking style but I think all Williams was doing is mimicking the best fighters he's seen, he never had the tools to back it up.

Warren may dangle Sprott like a great big 17 stone carrot in front of Audley Harrison now, the temptation maybe too great for Harrison to not sign some kind of deal with SN.

I agree with Goz on this one, Williams is a never was, he should retire now he has nothing to offer the sport anymore.

I cant understand the controversy, Williams acted like a tosser that didn't even want to be in there, Sprott was doing enough up until the last 3 rounds when he just lost the plot for some reason. I still had Sprott winning by 3-4 rounds.

I had Sprott the winner by 1 round, so many of Williams' shots landed on gloves or arms that he just didn't win many rounds.

Neither man turned in what could exactly be called a dominating performance, perhaps in fairness it was because there was so much on the line. If anything Sprott looked like he could have performed better, he was so much tighter this time around than last.

I thought that Sprott won the fight personally, but what a boring fight it was! Hope they don't have a fourth one!

In addition to the fight being weird I was shocked by the commentary of Darke who kept raving about Williams jabs even when they were sailing past Sprotts head and landing on his gloves (which they usually did) he also kept saying how Williams looked so relaxed, asleep was more like it!... added to this Sprotts corner were horrendous... when Sprott returned to the corner after having Williams out on feet and being about 3 rds ahead they started telling him that he was well behind and defeat was not a disgrace etc... I ve seen some 'gee up' talks in corners in my time but this was just baffling and seemed to baffle Sprott who completely deflated and went through the last rds like he just wanted to last the distance... what were the corner thinking???.
Williams has talent I think but he has never had the right mental attitude, I don't think he really likes boxing... in a way he reminds me a bit of Joe Bugner, though Bugner was a far superior boxer... the talent is there but the mind and desire isn't and boxing is about 90% mental... many fighters have had all the talent in the world but not 'made it' because they lack the right mental attitude and desire. I think what desire and confidence Williams had was severely damaged by the Sam fight and for me since then his performances have been going down... I think his playacting vs Sprott was caused by the fact that Danny just didn't want to be in there... it was almost as if he was looking for a way out via disqualification...

I hope all you doubters(i.e steve) will now get fully behind the GREAT AUDLEY HARRISON.

Although i didn't see the fight on saturday(due to distance), I LAUGHED at that RAT Danny Williams losing and his whole career turning to shit!

Both Sprott and Williams need Audley more than he needs them and I think Audley has done well to wash his hands of the crappy British Title as long as Average boxers like Sprott and Williams are holding the title.

REMEMBER, the BBC has got the only fight the British Public would really care about and that's :

I'm so glad that allegedly look's like a stupid cu~t, the BBC have unloaded a bunch of crappy Heavyweights onto him like Micheal Sprott, Danny Williams and Keith Long wheras the BBC have got two absolute Golden prospects in Audley Harrison and eventually David Haye!

Poor old Danny, the BBC treated him so well and he stabbed them in the back by running off with Warren, now Warren is gonna discard him like a soiled babies nappie and the BBC ain't gonna take him back.


2004 WILL BE THE YEAR AUDLEY PROVES HIS DOUBTERS WRONG!

I'd like to see Audley have a couple of tough fights against a good domestic heavyweight and than move on to a good euro Heavyweight and than in the summer fight Samil Sam for the EUROPEAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE.

I'm absolutely sure he'd beat Sam on points, than for his first defence he should defend against HERBIE HIDE as i feel Hide wouldn't take a fight for anything less than the european title being up for grabs.


I'm pretty sure SPROTT is contracted to allegedly and therefore is more likely to fight Matt-the fat-Skelton next. Warren will never allow Sprott to fight on the BBC again. Effectively, Sprott's career is NOW OVER!

Warren bought guys like Sprott for loose change because he needed to discredit Audley who he seems to HATE for no reason!

Trust me, Guys like Sprott, Long and especially Williams will regret the day they left the BBC FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!


AUDLEY WILL CLEAN UP ALL THE BRITISH AND EURO HEAVYWEIGHTS BY THE END OF THE YEAR!

A lot of the dust has settled I know but i also didn't think it was a robbery or even a bad decision. I'm sure the commentators hold too much influence on these occasions.

Danny threw that fight away and with it his cherished Brtish title. He surely proved he was far more skilled than Sprott and had more ability too, but for me, forgot to win enough of the rounds in the process of showing us Sprott's short-comings. So who had the last laugh? Sprott!

For his part, Sprott kept working within the confines of his ability and kept his defence nice and tight when Danny did decide to tee-off on him. No complaints from me about the decision.

Williams i feel has got only himself to blame and that includes Dave Parris.
