My question is,what if Marciano had fought Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore in this more upright manner
would it have been more difficult for him to win or would he have knocked them out sooner??
(BTW That protrubrunce on Louis's left shoulder was a cyst which he later had removed )

Do you believe everything you read?
I wish some of the older forum posters were still here.... its a quote that has been well documented and known.... They would tell you that indeed Joe Louis said the quote.

When he had attened Rocky Marciano's funeral.

BTW Going into this fight Marciano not only had an obvious height disadvantage
but also a weight disadvantage of 26 pounds( 210 lbs to 184 lbs)
and a nine inch reach disadvantage ( 76 in. to 67 in.)
but also of course a Professional boxing record experience disadvantage.

BTW This song would have been on the R&B charts when this fight happened in 1951.
Widely considered to be the first Rock &Roll song.

Louis was a better boxer and better puncher, but fell way off in the 40's...
It was his lifestyle... Women, booze, and nightlife destroyed him... That's why Charles beat the crap out of him -- never mind Marciano.
Prime for prime this isn't even a contest... Louis was a more inept and deteriorated old boxer than Ali was.
