I don't think Burns is anywhere near this level and has been hugely overrated after he beat Martinez who was frankly shocking the night they fought.
I'm with you. I can't see any other option myself and am on it too.

I like both fighters but everything is in Katsidis' favour. He's comfortable at the weight and more importantly he's strong, he's hurtful and intense. He will corner Burns and i'd be very suprised to see him get out of that position.

Very tough fight to take first

That sums it up.
I'm expecting an even quite jaded Katsidis to win well. But fighters like the Aussie to get old overnight with the sorts of careers they have had.

I hope you lose your money simply because of this ^^

Katsidis does have problems with movers though, as most heavyhanded boxers do. This fight comes down to what happens when Katsidis connects with big punches, even when the Aussie has lost fights he's always hurt the other guy before that

I echo the surprise at the optimism on this site regarding Ricky burns. For me this is an open shut case. Not belittling Ricky as he is clearly a quality operator but Katsidas is a beast and without question will take burns wheres he has never been. And in my opinion somewhere he wont be able to escape. Maybe im under estimating burns and time will tell ofcourse but im very confident Katsidas wins. Not in doubt for me

He's only good when he can impose his strength and physicality on the other guy. Let's also not forget that his career best win is what, Mitchell?

He can punch, but Burns can't and he will be wary of his power, particularly early on so I expect him to get on his bike, use a lot of lateral movement and jab, as he did against Martinez after being dropped.

Sure Kat has operated in a much higher level but let's also take into consideration that all of them have been "much smaller" men originally, so this argument about size is blown out of the water and it becomes moot anyway because none of them allowed him to use his size/strength other than Casa, who was clearly on the slide.

Kat's face only has to look at a bit of leather and it breaks out in welts and cuts and he's not hard to figure out at all. Like you say though, be interesting to see whta happens when Katsidis lands his first big punch. I'd expect Burns to not let him get set and keep him off balance with the jab and then tie him up when he gets in range.

I'll be there live and I actually want Katsidis to win because I like him as a boxer/person but I think to just say oh well he's fought better people doesn't necessarily equate to a win. As I said before, the guys he's faced have all largely come up from feather/super feather and he's not exactly done that great against anyone with movement - I remember Amonsot giving him problems with his skittery movement.

all burns has to do is stay on his feet. i think people are forgetting kat is a full blown lightweight/l.welter & his explosiveness wont be there at 9-4 plus the recent stuffing his had taken out of him.he's only marketable over here due to prior visits & respectable fans should feel insulted :!: burns is a farce.

Burns is a farce for fighting Katsidis?
Give us a break, this is a ridiculously hard fight to take for his first fight at a new weight.

I just had a look tonight at the prices, the stoppage is generally 11/10 and odds on with some bookies I got 2/1. I'm on at 9/10 for the outright some firms are now going 1/2

I've backed Katsidis in a treble alongside Groves to beat Smith and Chisora to beat Big Larry. Odds of 2.6 with Betfred. Reckon Groves and Chisora are virtual certainties and Katsidis should have way to much for Burns.

People are forgetting how fast Burns is. Agree he's not a big puncher but as a boxer, he's 10 times better than the Kat. The Kat just marches forward and throws big bombs. I fully expect Ricky to move to well and punch to fast in this fight.

Be interesting to see how that comes off.....Groves should win, but Smith is a very live under dog, so that's a probable, but not a cert...Chisora looks a dead cert - and Kat/Burns could go wrong for the Aussie too. Surely his only chance here is to knock Burns out cold - and that might not happen, as Ricky has been in with decent hitters like Carl J and Gomez - and while they are nowhere near the class of the Aussie, they hit hard enough to show that Burns has a decent chin ( think he was down against Arthur though...body shots was it ? )
Kat's face tends to mark up badly, so Burns has a chance to get the late TKO, if he can fend off Kat for the first half.
