most people who slag smith off calling him arrogant have never met him ive met him 4 or 5 times and he always seems sound and you very rarely here anyone involved in boxing slag him off

With allegedly on the go he won't retire and I think he should have 3/4 decent fights and when Groves goes on to world level he can fight again for the british tittle. Last night just proved Smith is british level and Groves can go on possibly to world level.

Smith is clearly too small for s-middle .. Middleweight seems natural .. and in this day and age. Lt-middle is where he should be.

Thats what has got to be so frustrating for a guy like Paul Smith.
He is tallented. He sure can fight. But for some reason he can't drop the weight as some guys do.

You look at Bellew. Massive frame boiled down a good stone and half below his natural weight. Carl froch able to stay at his weight and looking capable of carrying a stone in weight and you'd hardly notice.
Then Smith struggling at 168 and looking like an overweight middleweight..

Flat stomach isn't ripped, but he had fat coming over his shorts, you don't need to be ripped to not have an extra layer of flab

If he can make middleweight then Smith should be in against Craig McEwan next, a crossroads fight for both fighters.

Its comical, a lot of the people who are now saying he is too small for super middleweight were the same ones saying he would beat Groves.

His level is found, a drop to middleweight will revitalise him, but he's not a world beater, far from it. No shame in that, but he is going to have to take it a step at a time. He has plenty to offer the game, and should be able to achieve plenty to be proud of around the British/Euro scene.

there have been some flabby guys that have had great engines & trained like trojans some body types work like that he may have a really slow metabolism.

if he does get down he may not perform, he did it amateur wise but in the pro's & with his style he needs his strentgh it's key.

b-hop goes to bed at 9'o's every night & want even have salt on his food :!: smith certainly needs to assess were he's going & what he realistically wants out of the sport & make bigger then ever sacrifices.@ s.middle he is area level @ middle he's title class

he certainly is going to get alot of work & he has a family to feed & if he does continue to fight at 12st i hope he starts coming in light to show he can do middle & earn respect for fighting out his category.

people should look how effective hatton was at l.welter(world beater) & how ineffective he was at welter.

the two defeats were not damaging phisically & i think he can make sense of the stuation mentally & can still achieve, he's a determined person & he has been humiliated which could make him switch on or off??

He needs to box and move, like he did in the AMs & Commonwealth Games. Too late to change now but he had fast hands and punched in good combinations back then, utilising excellent movement.

Not sure why some fighters change what works for them. He went from that into a pressure fighter, relying on power. A switch to MW would be a good move as he looks too small against these SMW's. He only knows if he can do that or wants to do it, though.

It's just a shame he doesn't use his legs and boxing ability more.

he aint had much time with gallagher who i think suits him.the groves fight was too soon.

I think where Smith is lacking most at Super Middleweight is his own punching power.... thats why I think he would be suited to the lower weight. Seemed to pack a big punch at Middle. With his style, or the style he has been operating of late, he needs to be strong.

At 29 - he is still young enough to start again make a real good go of it.

Sorry Hurlock mate, I think if you could dig up some old AM fights, in particular the Commonwealth Games, when he won the Silver 2nd to Pascal, you will see that Paul was pretty good at sticking and moving.

I remember watching it and thinking, 'This kid has some ability'.
