Shame we've lost so many guys this year, Frazier, Cooper, Charles and Hernandez stand out the most though =/

Re: R.I.P Joe Frazier
Sad, sad day.
I was very lucky to meet him in Sheffield when he came over to fulfil a few dinner engagements. He brought Marvis with him. I will never forget the hurt he still portrayed about the Ali affair when things were said, and publicity stunts were pulled and I hope that he was at peace.
I still dont think he got the praise he deserved as a quality boxer. Most thought of him as a brawler. If you look at the punch that stopped Ali in 1971 it is superbly executed - and after 43 minutes of high intensity fighting.
Legend is a word thrown around too easily these days.
However Joe you are a legend.

R.I.P What a boxer he was. Has anyone seen his demolition of Bob Foster the great light heavyweight champion. You can really see his power in that one. A genuine great:he could fight for 3 mins of every round, take a punch and was preapred to go in with anyone. He will be missed and I hope his family are ok at this difficult time.

RIP the working mans champ! Legend.
Re: R.I.P Joe Frazier
R.I.P Smokin' Joe. I'm too young to have seen him live but I can still appreciate what he brought to the sport. Thoughts are with his loved ones.
Re: R.I.P Joe Frazier
No too many fighters that I'd wish I'd had the chance to see live more than smokin Joe
RIP

where did my comment go
Re: R.I.P Joe Frazier
Great champion, Real Fighter, Real Man.
The sparring throughout his career was tougher and more of an acheivement than the entire ring careers of both Klitsckos and Haye combined.
Says it all really.
An incomparable Champion.
RIP Joe Frazier.

Excellent video. It clearly shows that they did not 'hate' each other at all.Quixall wrote:This is a video of Joe Frazier with his supposed nemesis Ali....................

Re: R.I.P Joe Frazier
The Law,
I truly don't believe that to be the case.
The clip is from 1978.
I met him about 8 years ago and the intensity about the Ali saga was there.
Even Marvis remained bitter about the whole thing - and he was a young teenager at the time.
Anyway this thread is about the passing of a great man, and about celebrating everything that was brilliant about him as a boxer.
Legend.

Joe came to the UK a few months ago and he clearly didn't 'hate' Ali any more (if he ever did in the first place, given that 'hate' is a very strong word).twenty six wrote:The Law,

More importantly, as you said earlier, lets celebrate everything that was good about him as a boxer and the great memories he has left us with.

Re: R.I.P Joe Frazier
Read his autobio “smoking joe” years ago, was a good book, still have it, hardback version. He used to be a human wrecking ball - Getting old is a bitch.
