It's a quality story from a good while back.

Version I heard is that Narcissus Stretch is on a night out somewhere in South Wales (I think). It's late and there's a big queue at the chippie. 'Gal' walks in 'giving it large' with some bird in tow and walks straight to the front of the queue, shouting his order accompanied by some rather arrogant body language.

Unassuming but rather large rugby player-type is understandably piqued and unceremoniously 'stretches' Gary before re-taking his own rightful place in line.

Now, even if that isn't true or bits are wrong...you just want it to have happened, don't you?

So, Stretch was showing his missus at the time - Lionel Blair's daughter the sights of his hometown of St Helens and he takes her to a place called 'The Spicy Chicken' which is a rough old place to get a nocturnal bite eat - it was always kicking off there so Stretchy - with good reason - thinks he can push the queue without any comeback when this fat Welshman said something like 'oi you get to the back of the queue'

The fat Welshman was Stu Evans - a man who terrorised the All Blacks - turned over to league to play for the mighty Saints - he was injured half the time but fans could always meet and greet with the big man where he was always down for scoffing 8 or 10 big macs while on the road to recovery - he must have been around 20 stone if an ounce.

The fight lasted one punch - Evans probably hit him from behind, the whole of the spicy chicken cheered in unison, I wasn't there but most of St Helens were there of course and Stretchy never came back after that - I doubt Lionel Blair's daughter did!

The Stretch family were also famous for robbing a security van full of urine samples!

I never heard so much BS in my life.

I work in the Film industry, we actually wanted to cast in for the lead in a british film as i've been impressed by some of his acting roles over the years and believe if cast in the right part can be a very effective actor.

Gary is one of the most humble, lovely and spiritual people you'll ever meet and i've got loads of time for the bloke. I will add though that when he drinks it does bring out the asshole in him but then i'd say that about alot of people. Just to clear up the 'Chippy' incident, yeah he was pissed as a fart and was with Lionel Blairs beautiful daughter and did go to the front of the queue as he personally knew the owner and was attacked by 4 very large men who grabbed him. Yes it was a bit of an asshole thing to do walk to the front but alot of men are also very jealous about his very handsome looks and the stunning women he's with and he's had to deal with attacks on him his whole life even when they were unprovoked.

You would have been refused an interview on the grounds that Gary just dosen't want to talk about his boxing career anymore as it was felt that it stopped people from taking his acting career seriously and i totally understand that.

This 'Mega shark' film was a made for the syfi channel which makes a bunch of films like this for it's audience, it's not mean't to be taken seriously and is just a fun dumb disposable movie and alot of fairly well known actors have been in the syfi channel made for tv films over the years and Gary is a jobbing actor so would have taken the job on for the work and money plus it was also a lead part.

In terms of his acting career, Gary has been his own worst enemy at times and didn't play the whole Hollywood game and network there like he should have else i have no hesitation to say he would have been alot bigger then he currently is. I will say though that he was the favourite to take over the role of James Bond from Pierce Bronson and was the the Bond Producers personal favourite to land the role after he auditioned for the part a few times but i guess he wasn't considered a big enough actor at the time as once 'Layer Cake' came out, Daniel Craig got it.

Also the double oscar winning Director Oliver Stone is a big fan of Garys and makes sure there's always a role in one of his films for him having now cast him in 3 of his films. 'Dead Mans shoes' is rightly regarded as one of the best British films of the 2000's and Gary was sensational in the film imo, he actually reminded me of a british Jack Palance circa 'Shane' which is very high praise coming from me.

2012 will be a massive year for Gary, he has 3 big films he's been cast in that are all getting alot of industry hype. He is the lead in 'The Girl from the Naked Eye' which is gaining alot of good reviews so far from test screenings and big things are expected from it. He is also in Nick Cassavetes(Notebook, John Q) 'Yellow' which should be one of the talked about films next year and finally he's in the new Oliver Stone film 'Savages' which will be one of the very big films of the year.

All correct of course BUT he's sitting on youtube with the WBC belt around his neck and the intrviewer calls him former world chap 2 times and he doesnt correct him at any point which I find hard to believe any fighter would do.

And you are right he is very castable but he is also very wooden.

Dead Man's Shoes is a quality film by the way.

Dead Man's shoes was very well acted but bleak subject matter, Stretch was good in it though and remind me to avoid St Helen's kebab shops where fat rugby players linger in wait for challengers to enter there domain.

I don't think that Gary Stretch should be persecuted for what he was like 20 years ago and i'm sure he has matured a lot since the "chippie" days. He was young, good looking, fancied himself as a hard man and was a good boxer, so that is bound to attract bitterness and jealousy in people, so it's swings and roundabouts, Stretch wound them up and they reacted.

He comes across as quite a nice bloke in the videos, but iv'e never met him so i can't say whether he is or not, but he is an actor and trying to make a living, so he will use whatever prop he can do. As for his acting, iv'e only seen clips of him and yes he does look wooden, but in certain types of films you can get away with that, like in lock, stock and smoking etc.

I doubt that Gary ever had a chance of becoming james Bond lol and i have definately seen videos of him in recent years talking about his boxing days. Still a good looking fella and i bet he will do well on the "B" movie circuit. All the best to him !!

Dead Man was a decent film, a lot of talent involved in that one. And Gary wasn't half bad I remember. But Mega shark v Crocotpus ?!! That's hilarious, imagine his reaction to that script when it turned up, after telling his agent to get him some serious roles...must have been like extras. Probably got paid well though

All those who are telling me how good dead mans shoes was need to watch it again, the acting is fornicating ridiculous for a start. 4 fully grown 'tough' blokes shitting themselves from a guy that looks like terry dooley in a wax jacket with slightly less fashionable hair.

It's beyond crap and all I can think is that those who watched it are complete strangers to confrontation, as I am now- but wasn't when I watched that film... It's so unrealistic and shit. I cringed my way through the film. Terrible. If that film was a boxer it would be Eric crumble.
