Thanks for the update, Gobbles.

Re Degale and Groves, have all injuries / issues cleared up now then?
Warren has announced on Twitter that Groves will be out in March. Opponent to be announced soon.

Kev Mitchell v Stephen Ormond is set for 10th February. So Mitchell beats Murray in a belter earlier this year and the loser goes on to fight for a "world" title against one of the top three guys at the weight while the winner has a glorious homecoming against a novice 11-fight pro with only 2 fights against opponents with winning records (and a combined career w/l/d record of 34-119-5). The  smiley doesn't go far enough.

I am sure there be a Walsh brother defence in March as well. No mention of Degale. Groves v Anderson goies to purse bids. Will Groves have a commonwelath fight in between. Cleverly opponent still TBA will it depend on ticket slaes who in the other corner!

The only one that could feasibly have been PPV would have been Klitschko-Chisora, but the rest of them, no chance.

I heard thats not on. They offered it to Rees but money was too low. Can still see Matthews being in the other corner.

How long can promoters keep selling British Title fights as World titles ?

Think it's one of those weird ones, as long as they keep it a minority sport (on tv) then they can pretty much sell any fight as a world title fight as the general public no nowt

Burns-Mitchell would obviously be a world-level match, albeit a domestic affair. Burns-Rees could be justified too, since Rees is a former world champion despite fighting below that level for a while now. Crolla borderline, but Matthews, no way!

However, it is for the "interim" WBO title, which leads me to the question of who is eligible to challenge for an interim belt. Is it the same top 10-15 that the "regular" champ picks from, or is it a top 20-30?

UK now has better TV coverage of boxing than the US.

And we have very little here in Canada.

Matchroom & Hatton both saying that Rees and Crolla turned down the fight cos the money was cack.

Looks like Ricky's got no opponent.

Updated as Cleverly opponent annouced. Surely Bellew would been better.

"An offer to fight Cleverly was made to WBA title holder Beibut Shumenov but he will not be ready in time - although it could happen later this year. WBC Champion Bernard Hopkins was also sent an offer but has his forthcoming rematch with Chad Dawson."

Talking up a bigger fight down the line but likely to be Enzo Macc after.

Dont think all of them will be they have fair few. I am sure sky will get some. I have feeling primetime are going to get some too they going to annouce fights soon. The really big American fights will not be on their channel like Mayweather, Pacqauio. Cotto was on due to Murray fighting on the bill.

A channel just for boxing will always struggle not enough hardcore fans to make it work.

All this is in line with the Promoters natural form.

Mitchell vs a Novice - Whats that all about?????
Burns goes from Katsides, to possibly Matthews????
Cleverly vs Kapency - Amazing !!!

This is the stuff SKY clamped down on, after years of this crap. FW does what he does best, he takes the competitiveness out of this sport then moans about everyone else.

They are a PR disaster ! The company is a mess at the moment and would do well to completely change the way they do things. I know and like some of the people associated with the company very much like dean Powell but they have lost touch with the fans- at least us, the hardcore, the voices or keyboard warriors. I don't know Frank but generally I think he comes across well on TV and nowhere near as bad as he is percieved by some. That said these articles and the hearn comments do him nor FWP any favours. He'd be better saying nothing and making good relevant fights.

In the 1920's-1940's ford was the market leader- in fact they virtually led the worlds economy until the man at the helm failed to realise that the world had changed from the one he initially had huge success in- worse still he slagged off the Jews and said hitler had some good ideas and completely dismissed the increasingly popular unions. Crazy at the time. ford was an incredible leader and his innovative approach to management and clever business acuman allowed him to find a 'gap' in the market from which he quickly rose to the forefront of his industry.

Anyway eventually the company was overtaken by general motors as they lost popularity and became outdated. And it was only when Henry's grandson took over with new ideas they became relevant again.

The point is they have no innovation, no fresh ideas. They'll shout allegedly as a new idea- but thats a channel- a source of output that further retracts boxing from the general public, and the young kids that are the sports future. Its not really anything that changes things dramatically especially in light of such mixed reviews and customer service. It could do but for allegedly to be popular they have to be popular- they need to stop with the negativity in the press for a start. They need to stop what seems to be bullying antics on forums. They need to laugh off criticism but take heed of suggestions.

I say change your product, change your matchmaking policies, change the way you promote fighters- The market is saturated with people providing 70-30 or worse matches- the next promoter who is going to lead the industry I feel won't look to propel, and big up the incredible '0'- they will recognise the value of relationship marketing and provide entertaining fights with as much 'relationship material' as possible.

See 24/7, UFC etc etc - it's obvious

FFS we had Degale Vs Groves as a PPV in a very good fight not long ago. Relative match, between known fighters. I'm not saying every match they make is terrible- they've given us some great shows in the last year to 18 months but I still think more can be done to improve the experience for those watching.

It seems there are two problems- one being the PR, and the other being the sometimes seemingly pointless matches. I think both problems, worsen each other if you get me.

The lack of Pr makes the poor matches more annoying, and the poor matches make the lack of communication more annoying. They need a face, or a voice I think. Not actually commenting on them anymore because it just gets me in trouble but thats how I feel just now. Maybe i've got it all wrong but that seems to be the consensus on the forums I visit.
