Bute by KO. He's come a long way since the first Andrade fight and won't make that mistake again.

Froch on the other hand must be waning after what he's put himself through. All the credit in the world for the path he's taken, considering British fighters are usually stay at home prima donnas who go into meltdown unless everything is stacked heavily in their favour, but I think Bute is all wrong for him.

Counter-puncher wrote:totally disagree. the main reason Froch lost, IMO, is that the matchup of his physical talents and Ward's, especially in the areas of foot-and-hand-speed, works greatly to Froch's detriment. that disparity in speed was alweays there and would always (IMO) give Ward the chance to get in and out on Froch without taking too much.
But would you agree that against a prime Froch the fight would have beem more more comeptitive.

I'm inclined to believe that a prime Froch could pressure and hurt Ward, maybe not a knockout, but definitely a referee stoppage...

Personally as a big Froch fan, I wouldn't like to see it - because I'm predicting a Bute victory by wide points margin.

I firmly believe that Carl is on the decline, and if anyone disagrees they are deluding themselves...
Ward is a talented fighter, but he's not that good... The reason he looked as impressive as he did, is because Carl has slowed down (not that he was ever that quick) and he looked very sluggish.

Froch has fought a lot of tough fights in his career, and I believe that it may finally be catching up with him.

Does anyone really believe that Ward wouldv'e beaten Froch that convincingly 18-24 months back?
I sure as heck DON'T.

This is a meagre attempt by Bute to gain credibility by finally taking on a past-his=peak Carl Froch and knowing that Carl refuse it.

I sure as hell hope Froch wins (finally silence those Bute fights for good)... But sadly I can't see it.

priume-for-prime Froch would overpower and overwhelm him, but Carl has definitely lost something, that's for sure...
Surprised nobody has pointed to the delay as a potential reason for Froch being sluggish. To this untrained eye he looked over-trained, i.e. the gap in camp suited Ward more than Froch.

Froch isn't getting no favours at all in Canada.

A protected fighter like Bute simply don't deserve a name like Carl Froch on his shitty record alongside Jesse Brinkley and William Joppy.

Losing in the final to Ward is legit defeat. Getting raped by Canadian IBF officials is another.

If it was close, he'd lose by 10 rounds. He'd maybe get a MD loss if he floored him late here and there.

He'd be 5 rounds down from the first bell.

There is bravery and then stupidity. Tell them MSG in May, get Brook vs American and their other fighter an American as chief support.

Carl would ram the MEN or O2 arena. I know that's what I'd prefer than some 3am job yet again. Some of the lads have shelled out £12-15k since 2009 watching Taylor, Kessler, Abraham, Johnson, Ward. One lad spent 4 grand and never saw one fight - he booked Copenhagen, then Herning and they changed the date. Then booked Monaco which fell through, then original final in Oct and got put back to Dec.

Get him a UK fight and he'd do the same crowds as Bute. He was doing 8,000 against Dodson on a Friday night. He'd do 20,000 at Forest ground easily.

I don't think Eddie would want to be flying home with a heavy heart following a shafting.

He's proven himself as both a caring yet shrewd promoter.

Carl might not be happy, but I think his team would reign him in him and put on a nice UK event, maybe tied in with a big American fight night across the pond.

A sky double-header or something in April or May.

If Pac vs Floyd gets made for the Cinco de Mayo, I'd like a Froch bout to open up the evening nicely. A pavlik-type who will throw punches and put on a fight. Then switch across for the big one.

Then look to kick on in winter 2012 and then turn it in the year after. Following another couple of big ones.

Froch is one of the very few fighters who maintains respect regardless of the result. We know he goes to fight and we know he'll go after the very best. We all love him for it.

If he came back from Canada on the wrong side of a decision in a close fight....we'd love him all the more.

How old is he? 34? And a guy who has taken his lumps. I'd like to see him retire after 3-4 more fights. Maybe Bute, Kessler and then maybe the Groves/DeGale rematch winner. Or he could fight Pascal and Cleverly...

I somehow think they or HBO would change their tune if the fight was signed. Fights like this don't go untelevised.

Carl is surely nearing the end - his style relies on his stamina and fitness, which will soon be in decline - he also gets his way too often and easily, which isn't going to help his longevity.

I'm not sure Froch would ram a London venue, despite his fighting style he hasn't anything like the profile Haye had, and Haye couldn't fill the 02 against Barrett.

Nottingham would make a lot more sense.

Yeah, but neither camp will roll the dice like that. Besides Bute is contracted to Showtime, so they have the final say with him.

They're paying Bute $1.2m a fight (circa £800k) and apparently want an American for their money.

Ken Hershman would have snapped it up, but their new team 'make the decisions' now.

Maybe Froch looks towards HBO..

Froch has options besides Bute. If this doesn't happen, he can go after Kessler, Dirrell, Stieglitz at 168 or if he wants to step up he has Pascal or Cleverly at 175. I'd love to see Froch - Bute, but Froch - Kessler would be a great substitute.

As Don King said - the networks are effectively acting as promoters/managers these days, fighter contracted to them have no choice.
