The editor makes sure the fights are covered as best they can be - there's plenty of ways of doing it without him personally subscribing or doing anything illegal.

Ok but for me A channel dedicated to the sport sounds perfect ideal even if it's far from perfect at the moment. I'd like to see it really establish itself and start picking up even more international bouts but it seems to be under a constant barrage of criticism for the same old reasons.

Bunce probably bit back after the poor reaction to the channel on here , when he was probably buzzing at the prospect of working on fights consistently and getting his Boxing Hour back on TV. Also his Bunce Hour Box Natio n Thread was removed before this I seem to remember. (I may be wrong)

To be fair to Ian, he replied to that thread using his account as is on this forum - I think we should not assume that all posts he makes on this forum are under the guise as his position of boxrec news editor.

And surely what is good for the goose is good for the gander - A fledgling ppv channel should be falling over themselves to make sure editors of boxing publications or news sites have press credentials.

He posted under his alias on the would you subscribe to the Allegedly channel thread a few post in (No) and when he was quoted his real name came up.

I don't think the news site has suffered because we have a couple of lads in Ben and Danny who are reporting on the shows. We don't receive previews/releases, etc. through the normal channels because we're not on the promoters' distribution lists.

I don't think the Oliver Holt-type analogy holds up for all sorts of reasons - I wouldn't do what he does, he wouldn't do what I do - he's a full-timer on an enormous salary, I'm not.

I never, ever said I wouldn't watch the fights. I watch more small hall British boxing than probably 90% of people employed to write about the sport (even though I've scaled back for a few reasons over the last couple of years).

This is the age of austerity, you know.

Therefore, when I want to watch one of their bills, I pop round to my friend's house and take a flask of tea and box of broken biscuits for us to share. I really enjoyed the McPhilbin stoppage, his post-fight interview, six journeymen on the card winning a round between them, Larry 'Oluwamibo' and the fact that none of the team knew the rules.

My friend, who can't afford Sky Sports, comes to my house armed with cherryade, Space Raiders and we play Jim Watt Bingo.

Roast beef are the best Monster munch flavour but I'm more of a smoky bacon Walkers or or steak Mcoys man these days.
The biggest problem with turning the commentary down is you lose that slap of leather and audience atmosphere. I wish there was a red button command where you could cut the com though. I would have the power to silence Jim whenever he gets a bit much or permanently silence Amiir when he's on the Mic.

I bought a multi-pack in time for xmas that promised me the best quality local and international potato based snacks and while the first couple of bags were great, the rest went missing. I was sent a replacement bag of Bereites Gesalzenes Wanderers (Germanys leading crisp brand) but that failed to fill the gap. I should have known not to trust the free samples given out at the supermarket. And I should have trusted my suspicions of the large man waving crisp packets everywhere, muttering something about proper savoury snack fans....

You should be grateful for the Prawn Cocktails mate - I did the same at my local supermarket and the first box contained a lovely bag of Walkers Worcester Sauce crisps.

Unfortunately, every month after that they just send me the same empty bag from the crisps I ate in the first month ...........

Gomez - spot on about the family packs of monster munch - they have less flavour. With the big packs, you can actually see the e-numbers and lumps of brown flavouring. yum.

When Walkers did their flavour competition a couple of years ago, i did a review. I'll send you it. Builders Breakfast flavour won, despite tasting a bit like an eggy fart.

I like crisps that much I'd be willing to take a £10 a month order of Mystery bags from around the world. I spend almost that much on crisps each month already and would look forward to some surprises. If at the end of six months I find the quality of crisps has dipped to an unacceptable level I will cancel my savoury order but be happy in the notion I tried out a few new flavours good and bad that might not have been created if it wasn't for my £50 pounds.

An unofficial spokesman for the crisp company said: "At no time did we say the ingredients and taste would actually be as advertised. Historially we have found that our best-selling and most popular flavour is TBA so it should hardly come as a surprise that we made this a major part of our new range of crisps. Those complaining about the product they have purchased clearly just do not like crisps in any way, shape or form and we do not consider them crisp fans."

My usual accompaniment to late night boxing is Tetleys or Boddingtons and Fig Rolls.

Yep. I couldn't believe that.

I was away for the weekend and never saw the fight, but I'm assuming John Rawling was one of the commentators...if I'm wrong here then fair enough, but he really does...like many of the "public voices" on BN seem clueless (Lillis has come across as a bit of a numpty on a regular basis on the channel, Bunce is...well...Bunce and it all comes across as unprofessional)...
