Ok, if you say so. Please explain on what grounds Nelson should be sacked...
Because, no matter how hard he tries, and how nice he is, he's rubbish as a presenter and ( for us neutrals ) painful to watch.

This is the OP of the thread you are supporting. It's a witch hunt, not a debate.
No I'm supporting the fact that we can debate it, hence specifically stating the thread (as you did). Perhaps you meant the original post.

Is a boxing Fanatic a neutral when watching a boxing show? or is the casulal / passing fan more of a neutral, the type of guy thats bored of 11 hours of sky sports news and fancy's a change?

Boxing fans want perfection due to the fact there so scared the good things they have (such as ringside) are going to get ripped from there tv sets.

The shows here to stay, relax, enjoy it, lets see how Johnny's doing in 12 months time.

Would like to point out the last 2 Ringsides I've been on were live, not filmed earlier 'as live'.

I definitely think Johnny struggles with the autocue or whatever it is, not a 'presenter' for me, he doesn't mess up his words when punditing, just tries to talk over everyone.

Im not bothered by johnny Nelson to be fair to him , its the other presenter , i forget his name but he comes across to feminine at times for a boxing show , watch his faces he does and his wrist and legs , wouldnt be at all surprised to hear he batted for the other team , not that ive got anything against them just dont think the feminine styled man suits a boxing show

Well I guess some ranting controverial figure.
Guess what ? It ain't gonna happen.
Presenters present - specifically on the basis of the script they're handed, and the odd anecdotal (based on casual observations) comment - that comes as an instruction down the ear piece from the Director.
As far as I'm aware it's a live show to add to the difficulty of presenting.
Anyone who thinks it's easy - have a go, talking fom a sript whilst at the same time getting instructions in your right ear.
Johnny does a good job.
Spencer, Jamie and Froch are streets ahead in terms of knowledge, charisma, coherence and ego management. I find Jonnys voice an actual pain to listen too aswell but that's just Sheffield. Fair play though there are obviously some folk who actually enjoy him, so it appears I'm in the minority.

Aye, I posted about the leg move on another thread, it was total disrespect. Froch did well but he looked a bit annoyed. Some folk on the other thread said it was prob the producer in his ear telling him to stop Froch but seemed more likely that Johnny wanted to say something cool, calm and collected.

Get rid Sky, please!
He has failed as an anchor misraebly and Im sick of SKY boxings whole set up with so many ex pro pundits interviewing each other and the silly constant references to "our light middleweight hope, our heavyweight hope"....SKY is not the UFC they should commentate on boxing objectively like the SKY football do and stop this "our" nonsense...of overhyping british talent like they did the lightmiddleweights in the early 2000s who none of them amounted to much and they only fought each other years later.....also the biggest gripe I have is I am sick to death of one week seeing Ricky Hatton on as the pundit, one week he is the interviewer and the next week he is being interviewed by one of the other pundits and vice versa, it seems Sky boxing pundits are the news and they interview each other all the time! and please adam smith we know who barry mcguigan is we know who glen mcrory was we dont need the constant introductions every week of "barry who was one of our best featherweight world champions" etc....the whole format is tired and bored...and i hate the boxing ring set with 16 stone johhny perched on that little stool and adam smith cuddled up to him making strange facial gestures lets have less pandering like we saw with teh trip to Miami to see Haye and more hard talk and hard journalism. Robinson needs to be the one allowed to ask the hard questions.... less of this matey shite that Bunce introduced and lets have a new gary newbon, not neccesarily someone who brushes people up the wrong way but someone willing to ask the hard questions....this whole keeping Harrison and Haye and Haye and Klitchko in seperate rooms was bullshit...have them in one room have them trade insults.... this is boxing..!

Getting back to Nelson....as a pundit great. He's knowledgable and assured....but as soon as he is made the anchor he goes all nervous, fluffs lines/autocue and crucially interupts with pointless remarks just when a guest is opening up or about to say something revealing, as if he is justifying his presence rather than doing his job which of any interviewer is to get the interviewee to reveal something interesting or his opinion...that isnt possible with johhnys interuptions.

No we dont want a loudmouth annoying pudendum like bunce on. I would prefer a proper journalist, say a Robinson or a Smith on his own doing the anchor role with a harder edge and not afraid to ask hard questions.

Your gripe is with the Producers then would you agree, not the Presenter ?
Everyone needs to realise it does not matter one fornicate who is doing the presenting in terms of the dialogue.
Stick to the script, read the auto cue.
This thread is about Johnny's skills when in essence the complaints seem to be over content and style - which has fornicate all to do with the Presenter.
Maybe the thread needs re naming and then I agree a debate about SKY'S presentation is the right one.
Where are you from Davey Boy ?
Plenty of dialects I can't stand so back off the Sheffield accent ! :TU:

well my gripe is that Nelson fails to read autocues, butts in unneccesarily when interviewees are talking, stops them opening up, and is very hard to understand sometimes with his quiet lisping anchor voice....its a nerves thing.....when he is in free flow as a pundit he seems very confident, and knowledgable...the total opposite

My fundamental point is Johhny is a superb former boxer, a nice guy, entertaining and if given the chance has the possibility of being the best pundit on sky....why the hell mess around with using him as the anchor?!!! What is robinson there for. Id like to see a proper trained journalist do that job. I liked John inverdale....or get a trained female journalist to do the job...like football has and the PGA golf Tour has...like Snooker has... I do think Nelson may be uncomfortable on the stools as well he's a big guy and Smith is a fornicating idiot for insisting he sits on that tiny stool, mcrory looks uncomfortable on them too. Get a proper TV set.

Good points, Adam wants to simulate his favourite pick up bar so has all his guests sit on bar stools.

oh i see!.....now it makes sense! :yay:
Adam Smith should star in his own own movie called "i love you johhny nelson" it would be a British remake of Jim Carreys "I love you Phillip Morris" and no doubt Eddie Hearn could have a role too since he's so popular with some male boxing fans these days.

I would rather listen to JN jabber for 5 minutes than have to sit through the whole Carlos DeLeon fight again!

Anybody notice Glenn and Barry's "banter" last night. I think they really pissed each other off starting from Mcguigan correcting Glenn about the Martinez/Booth fight. Very funny.
