Mathhew Hatton tried.

Hatton fought a smart fight against Alvarez, staying away from the big punches in and out of range and managed to land a few and give him the run around a bit even if he didn't have the power to faze him. He won brownie points as his cards were seemingly marked for destruction but he showed a lot of balls.

Rhodes effort was disappointing to me as I thought his style and own punch power may cause Alvarez problems but he had no plan B and was beaten in every department in the end but no shame in that and it wasn't pathetic by any stretch.

ok, pathetic was too strong a word and I take it back. I will say it was extremely disappointing.

Don't worry about it pal, boxing can be a very emotive subject.
You've only got to look at Daisycat's first post to realise that.

Word on the Manchester scene is that Rabchenko is dangerous. The question is - what is the Hatton's motivation here? Are they not interested in Rabchenko so trying to get him bumped off or have they run out of ideas for Ryan and are wanting rid?

Ryan wins late stoppage - he knows he needs to keep winning as at this stage of his career every fight counts.

The other lad has never been in with anyone with similar style, experience, class or power.

Might just be a good bout they can make a bit of money off. Rhodes will be in the mix RE British, Commonwealth and European pretty much as long as he wants. He doesn't let himself go between bouts, rarely takes a lot of stick and has refined his boxing so he doen't waste a lot. I've not seen anything of Sergey but will watch this; If he beats Rhodes he is a very good prospect.

You are so far off beam it's not true.
The fight was mandated by the EBU - just so happens both are with the same Promotor which made negotiations easy.
I can tell you catagorically that the Promotor is not looking to ditch either fighter.

Would also mention mate there is a world of difference knocking kids about during sparring, to getting in the ring for the EBU title.
One thing I can catagorically say is there is no other fighter on Rabchenko's record that is close to Rhodes.
If this power he possesses is so mighty, why did he go 8 rounds in his last fight with a guy with 44 losses on his sheet ?
I have friends in the boxing game that side of the Pennines and yes, credit where credit is due Rabchenko is doing well.
So he should be to be given an EBU shot.

Ryan Rhodes i think will take this guy to school possibly with a stoppage around 6/7 he seems more focused in training for this one like he has a point to prove all the best to Ryan he really deserves major honours

I am not convinced Ryan has it in him to fight at a fast tempo anymore. I hope he wins , but I see him being networked and broken down for late stoppage defeat.
