Kali's long periods of ring inactivity caught up with him at last. You can't beat that old devil: time!

Kali is old, but imo was overrated so peopple expected so much from him. As I said in another thread, he lost just about everytime he fought a wrold class opponent so he hasn't really beaten any "real names" in the HW division. There is nothing wrong with that, he was just a level below the best, which is still a million levels higher than most.

Walker was a decent opponet, who would have beaten Kali whenever they fought, even if 5 years ago.

Walker is still a good fighter but he was stopped by Leapai in 4 rounds I think. So The King is dead long live the new King. King Alex. :TU:

Five years ago Walker got done over in one round by a nobody named TJ Wilson, so you may be wrong.

I agree but it is worth noting that Walker came close to stopping Alex in that fight, and the stoppage call aginst Walker was questionable, if memory serves me correctly

meehan was dominating comfortably up until the money punch.

it only takes a good punch and fight over.

kali had his hands far too low too often imo.

But TJ came to nothing. His loss to Walker was his last of 14 fights.

The guy who wrote the story may have lost money on the fight.

No i had look and it was the fight I was thinking of, I saw it on a Mundine undercard. Walker was giving it to Alex in the 4th, to the point where I thought the ref would stop the fight, then Alex came back and hit Walker with a couple of good shots and the ref quickly steped in and waived it off.

Oddly, all of the you-tube footage of the fight has since been removed...

Walker's eyes were rolling when the referee stopped it. That usually indicates a fighter out on his feet ( or an African American in a Marx Brothers movie).

I believe the show had been postponed to Sunday April 1. Promoter Thornberry is yet to confirm this, hence the reason it hadn't been changed in Boxrec

Leati Leapai comfirmed it today. Johnson has had the flu and needs two weeks more preparation.

Let's face it Leapai is very limited and even now wouldn't be able to cope with a totally gone Tua, a never has been Cameron and well a let's just say a struggling Meehan. I'd fancy Soi against him. And this is the great aussie hope? He's f3cked domestically, actually I guess he'll be fine on aussie shores for the for seeable. Bring on Col Wilson - again....

The only person you mentioned there that would beat Leapai would be Tua. Leapai knocks Cameron out, and would literally eat Soi for dinner.

Leapai has destroyed every Kiwi he has fought. Tua's recent record has been very ordinary. Father time is catching up to David.

Even at this point in Tua's career, he would beat Leapai.

Too bad Tua aint making any progress though, as for Leapai, im behind him all the way.

if tua went in the ring with bad attitude, he beats most heavies now.

just lost the killer instict though.

leapai still has it, but lacks some skill. he is game, and that will take him further than many others.

The stoppage was as awful as with Leapai:

But you're right, Travis was too green for Meehan at the time. He used to go balls to the wall early, then gas out quick. He's gotten smarter (and seems to have lost some useless muscle),though Leapai gave him no time to think. I only saw the last round of the Meehan fight, but Travis must have fought conservative early to flurry like a madman mid fight.

He has a good KO punch, that always helps. Alex's only KO loss was the result of a rabbit punch early in his career.

Nicely timed postponement for me as I will be in Brisbane for this one. Any other cards fixed for south Queensland over the next month or so?

But the commentators said Meehan had "beaten world class opposition virtually every time he's been asked".
