Advice on getting into white collar boxing, please?

Ive had a debate on the phone with neil in the past , he had a guy training with him who was in his early 50's and really terrible boxer but was desperate for a run out , so i got him on and found him a fair opponent so that it wasnt a walkover for anyone , but Neil decided to ring me telling me he had all sorts of medical conditions etc , so to be on the safe side the fella concerned went to get a drs note , which he had to pay for , stating he had no health problems and was fit to take up sport including boxing , this fella has now had 7 bouts , hes not won any but hes known on the circuit now so hes always matched very very softly ,hes also currently serving in afghanistan , so hes fit enough to fight for the country but neil didnt want him to fight for himself . maybe neil was just a bit concerned he would take a beating which is fair enough to be honest but the fact he blatantly lied to me was enough to not care for the bloke as a man , he could have just told me he was concerned if that was the case , if he had gone about it right the guy would probably have listened to him as its not as if i was really established at the time , if it wasnt for the guys determination to prove him wrong he wouldnt have been allowed to box on my show as neil had got me very concerned, it was his first fight and maybe would never have done one if it hadnt have gone the way it did , Neil came accross as very arrogant , he asked what my pro record was and when i replied i hadnt boxed pro he started going on about "well im a pro boxer and so is the guy who helps train the lads " so what !! am i supposed to bow down because your a pro , your just any other bloke to me pal .
Another point about fighting fit is ive been told by people who have trained there ,you have to sign up for a 6 month contract and they take your money regardless of wether you go to them or not , £30 per month if i remember rightly , for a couple of times a week , ok might be about normal i dont know but gyms in nottingham that are open 7 days per week are competitive with that price , so why pay a contracted price for a smaller open training schedule that wont release you prior to the 6 months .

Although i will say this is from about 3 years ago so may not be the same now , i wouldnt go as far as advising people to avoid him as i dont know his training methods etc etc but i would say dont go if your not going to be able to commit properly to the 6 months contract and if you dont want to be dictated to about where you can box by someone whos not even willing to be in your corner for a fight anyway .

Sorry to rant , ive never met the guy but thats what i know of him from telephone and what im told .

Maybe the fact he has lost 7 justifies Neil's concerns, better safe than sorry right? Regarding the gym fee's. IMO it is a fair price for the timetable it offers, and a good portion of the members are barristers & solicitors etc.. so if they did not agree with the pricing I am sure they would make it known. Don't forget, this gym is in the centre of Brum so will not be cheap to rent. Most gyms now operate on a monthly tariff or their own security. My local ABA is £20pm, but late comers do not have the dedication to become an AM. White Collar was supposed to cater for the 'average man' to live the dream. Nowdays, many shows feature fully trained ex pro's as an easy payday. I cannot comment on any arrogance you encountered, but my own experience when I met Neil checking out some sparring was that he was a nice man. I have never walked into a gym where so many people randomly started talking to me. As far as White Collar in Birmingham goes in my experience it is the best for that market here. There is no danger of someone getting overmatched like I have seem in other Brum shows.

The fact hes had 7 (actually lost 6 drawn 1 but still not much difference) would never have been know had neil got his way as im talking about what was his first fight ,
I agree that i was a new promotor , the guy was turd and for all anyone knew i could have been setting him up for a beating , theres no way Neil could know that im not like that at that current time , so Yes i agree he could have been protecting him , but then he shouldnt have lied to me and started going on about all the "well im pro " crap , it was his arrogance that made me think eff him .
