Martin Rogan clash with Mick Hennessy

Why did the Irish Boxing Union cave in so easily on this?

Re: Martin Rogan clash with Mick Hennessy

Based on what? Price has not been tested as a pro. I think Fury would have too much for the inexperienced Price right now.MachoMan09 wrote:He'll want it when it makes sense for it to happen. Price is (almost certainly) better than Fury now.

Surely it's all about the tv contractsBomber 1 wrote:I hope it happens mate, I just believe Hennesy doesn't want it, I think Fury believes he can beat anyone as all us fighters do but it's down to Hennesy why he vacated them titles not Fury...

Agree with this, Fury would easily beat the Price with ease and i've never known so many people to put such a limited boxer like Price in high regard when he's an above average boxer at best and will get exposed as soon as he stops fighting domestic level or bums.Horse wrote:Based on what? Also lets make this very clear, i'm no fan of Hennessy but an offer of 90K was made to Price and Maloney to fight Fury on Channel 5 which was turned down. The simple reason Hennessy pulled out of purse bids was if they lost the fight would be on sky sports which would have put him in the shit with Channel 5 and defaulted his contract with them.
Maloney turned the offer down because deep down he probably knows Fury beats Price.
Re: Martin Rogan clash with Mick Hennessy
Am I missing something?
Rogie signed up for the fight. Mick presented a new contract at the weigh-in changing the amount of rounds of the fight. Rogan kicked off but was told by Mick that they'd ship someone else in if he didn't sign, so he did.
This is what am aware happened and if true, it's bang on. Mick shouldn't be able to get away with it.

Just look at the McDermott fight and that is enough said for me mate
Re: Martin Rogan clash with Mick Hennessy
Pricey would have got nearly double had it gone to purse bids! This is a fact. The winning purse bid for the Sexton fight is well over 100k! It's simple to me, the fight should have gone to purse bids and both fighters would of gotten life changing money! To pull your fighter out of his biggest ever payday when he is the champion is absurd IMHO.. If I were Fury I'd of said listen mate DO ONE! I'm fighting him and that's that!exittored wrote:Agree with this, Fury would easily beat the Price with ease and i've never known so many people to put such a limited boxer like Price in high regard when he's an above average boxer at best and will get exposed as soon as he stops fighting domestic level or bums.Horse wrote:Based on what? Pricey limited? He's had massive success at amateur level and has looked beautiful so far in the pros. Granted he's fought a few cans, but when stepped up he's looked devastating. The McDermott win was crushing. Say what you want about Mc, but he himself said before hand he felt in great shape. This is the bloke that beat Fury. Pricey blew him away.
Not jumping on your post for a 'Pricey v Fury' slagging sesh, but to call you up on having Price down as average. Madness.

I agree. Price beat Fury when he was a novice and unknown and wouldn't give a return; why would Fury box Price now to raise his profile? It'll be a good scrap when they do box.MachoMan09 wrote:He'll want it when it makes sense for it to happen. Price is (almost certainly) better than Fury now. Why risk jeopardising what is being built to basically give a guy barely anybody has heard of, despite an Olympic medal (Price) a huge leg up?Bomber 1 wrote:I hope it happens mate, I just believe Hennesy doesn't want it, I think Fury believes he can beat anyone as all us fighters do but it's down to Hennesy why he vacated them titles not Fury...
