Even though this is the main event, the crowd has thinned out as Patrick Nielsen was the man everyone wanted to see. Never seen anything like that before!

Yep he looks class here, but the Italian is giving it a good go, lands a good shot there - good experience I suppose, but the Olympic gold medalist is really boxing in the backwaters here. I wonder why he turned that title shot down.

1st to Degale, snapping the jab out nicely. Was clipped a couple of times though.
More of the same in the second, took a very good left but otherwise bossed it

20-18 Degale though he shipped a decent left. He looks good tonight, actually.

3-0. Could do with tightening his defence.

30-28. Share to Sanavia for me based on the last second. I thought he tagged him and Degale went into the ropes or almost a touchdown. could have been a balance thing. Not given though.

Great 'WBC' tattoo on Sanavia...is that the Diamond, Emeritus, or Youth belt he's got inked on?

That was a surprise! Thought it'd go longer than that.

Great win by Degale...Sanavia down four times in round four and that's that. Impressive.

Sanavia is pony. Never been impressed with him and it's a nonsense how he gets an annual crack at the belt.

Sanavia is 37 not exactly stellar opposition.

True, but Degale did what a good champion should do against such an opponent.

DeGale looked like he was genuinely knocked down there, end of 3rd - but it was a weird ending, as 1st kd looked a push, but then everything he landed after that bowled over the Italian. He looked great most of the time, but his defence doesn't seem to be as good as he thinks it is. The much shorter Italian was landing more often than you'd expect.

Buncey thinks Henry Weber, Lillis has mentioned Brian McGhee. The McGhee fight might be interesting.

They certainly didn't speak to him whilst I was still watching. They just went straight back to the studio for more fun and banter!

Before the fight it was all about whether De Gale could keep his head with his current issues, fighting away, and that he had something to prove. I think he did that and deserves praise for ticking the boxes on those questions.

Half this sh1t, not all of it, but half of it, is manufactured by the promoters, by the press, by the fighter, to sell the fight. Can DeGale do it? Of course he fcuking can, he isn't the sacrificial lamb yet, he's still the cash cow, albeit on a diminished scale. Sanavia in that last round looked like he'd forgot to turn the oven off. Tick the boxes...

What more did you want De Gale to do? Easy to criticise but what did he actually do wrong out there last night? I accept it was his to win and many predicted a points decision. De Gale bettered that, he can only fight what's in front of him and I think a win like that will be good for his confidence (after two tough fights).

I'm not disagreeing with any of that. Nor am I criticising DeGale, insofar as his performance in the ring, you're right, he has to do what he has to, at that point. Before that...
