Chris Eubank vs Gerald McLellan is a mismatch..

G-man much sympathy but he only boxed about 25 rounds in 5yrs & Eubank 250 rounds in 5yrs, G-mans against 95% club fighters and Eubanks against 95% former W champions/W challengers..

Lets be realistic.. Im with Haugen here, McLellan would find it hard to lay a glove on Chris Eubank just like all the rest..

Essett wasn't world class, look at the people he lost and drawed with, he wasn't much more than a journeyman who beat no one of note apart from an over the hill Simms. Thornton was a good fighter but was a good level below the likes of Nunn, Jones, McCallum, Toney and McClellan himself, and Holmes was as well, despite being a former champion but when he fought Eubank he was clearly past his best.

On topic, i'd say Eubank late TKO.

McClellan struggled when he got extended and Eubanks without a doubt would have extended him.

This is one of my most yearned for historic matches.

As tough as Eubank was I think McClellan would have stopped him late.

Very hard to call, I'm going with McClellan by late KO or points decision. At middleweight, it would have been a great fight.

Anyone who doesn't believe Eubank became gun-shy after what happened to Watson should watch the Collins, Thompson or Wharton fights again, where there were obvious occasions when he could've got the other guy out of there but wouldn't/couldn't pull the trigger.

There's a moment in the Wharton fight when he has Henry (who was a teak tough bloke) wobbling in the ropes but instead of letting go of a flurry to finish him off, he practically begs the ref to pull him out of there.

why didnt chris fight in the states? nigel went there and proved he was a true world class campaigner. where was eubank? back in britain working the publicity machine for himself.

yes chris was a very strong and skillful fighter but his career has holes in it where benns is pretty much water tight.

great match up though. GM stops chris late (160lbs)
