Mine is currently down for a number of factors. The main one being all the politics and fighters not fighting who we want them to! There was a time, around 3-4 years ago where I wouldn't miss a single televised show, but at the moment I do not subscribe to Sky or BN, and have only caught one C5 bill.

I am reduced to just looking at results and reading reports, and of course what all you guys say. There a re a few fights I will seek out on youtube afterward if they sound interesting, but then usually skip forward to the ending (I don't find watching a fight I know the result too very interesting at all).

Actually, when I think about it, my enthusiasm/interest has plummeted!! I hold TV responsible, as hitman_hatton1 said, TV should blackball fighters and hold them to the contests that not only the fans want to see, but contests that actually mean something. This will then force fighters, promoters and stupid governing bodies to do the right thing as none of them will be getting paid. Only then will the sport thrive like it should.

Boxing fans have been taken for mugs for way too long, it's about time that changed

And he was only 20 when he won the British title back in 1996 when he stopped Paul Jones in 8 rounds. I really do hope he beats Rabchenko as he one of the good guys within the sport who sometimes did not get breaks his way.

I hadn't seen him for years and then bumped into him at a Lennox Lewis weigh in at Josephine's nightclub one sunday morning. That must have been around Feb 1990 i think.

Having been a fairly active member of boxrec since 2003 people always seem to moan about one thing or another although to be fair there's alot wrong with boxing to moan about.

To answer the question put by the OP my interest in boxing has gone MASSIVELY UP and the simple reason is that for the first time i can actually follow boxing properly because technology allows me to watch fights live from all around the world whether it be on tv or more likely high quality streams.

20 years ago a boxing fan could only dream of the kind of world wide coverage we're getting today, infact i can watch streams for pretty much any boxing card that has some form of media coverage as there's always someone online streaming it.

There's a really good healthy online boxing community that shares their love of boxing and to a fan like me i can't get enough of watching boxing even the obscure boxing cards as there's always that chance to see the next Pacman.

We have some truly special boxers to watch at the moment and i'm even more excited to see some of the young up and coming guys like Ismayl Silakh become world champions very soon.

Mines gone down since I was a teenager and in my early/mid 20's. I was a bit of an anarak; used to tape trans world sport and the rest of it, all the magazines etc. Not as much time to devote adn life's more complicated now; don't think it's down to boxing being less interesting, if your a fan you can be interested in any little bit of the sport and argue the toss over anything with anyone.

I was burnt quite badly by the original Wlad - Haye fight and I have to say that really put me off traveling for a big fight. My birthday is the 5th of May and there is always a big American bill on that weekend but seeing how unreliable the sport is these days there is no one I book flights, hotels etc to go stateside only for it t be cancelled. I would love to see a fight in Vegas but when I do it won't be the sole purpose of my trip

Mayweather - Cotto would be a good one though to go to Mark !!

my interest has gone up in the british scene but gone down abit in the world scene

We're at the end of April and from where i'm sitting there hasn't been much to be interested in so far this year. Dates for promoters in boxing are drying up more and more all the time, where as i'm getting my mma fix every week.

Stick a fork in it.

My interest in the sport is still high, but it almost certainly has waned & now sits second to football in my list of favoured sports.

There just aren't enough characters in the sport & the biggest & best fights often don't get made until it's too late, or not at all. :(

I got all the magazines, the Ring , Boxing Monthly, Boxing News, Boxing Illustrated, KO, I got all the boxing books that were ever published, I knew all about boxers that nobody else had ever heard of and I would watch every fight possible be it on TV or at a show.
Then when I hit my thirties I became more and more distant and although I still took a passing interest, my enthusiasm was never the same. Not really sure what it was, it certainly wasn't anything to do with the politics of the sport or any other reason that's given for the decline of boxing, I think I just found other things to do.

Anyway, about eighteen months ago my interest sparked up again. Just as there was no reason for me to move away from boxing, there was no real reason why I found my passion for it again. So here I am back to buying all the magazines, all the books and watching all the fights again.

Yes boxing has it's problems, yes some things make me tear my hair out but I love the sport, I love the history and I'm loving being back in love with it again.

Like anything in life you can fall in and out of love with something as it's easy to get jaded or cynical which i basically did with with football and only have a passing interest in it now wheras with boxing i've become a much stronger supporter because of the greater access i've had to watching live boxing worldwide from tv and streams.

British boxing is exciting at the moment especially as America would love to have 4 heavyweights of the calibre of Haye, Fury, Price and Chisora.

Froch vs Bute is a fight that can't fail to deliver a great fight and then we've got guys like Groves, Degale, Cleverley and Brook who will soon be stepping up and seeing if they've got what it takes

Fans moan about boxing. But how many dodgy decisions are there in football? How many times are games dull? The side who actually play entertaining football lose? 9 out of 10 seasons you can predict the top 4 at the start of the season.

Add to this that most players are morons. Banging one another’s wives, girlfriends, sisters-in-law… the link between the players and the fans has gone. And the truth is the link between the clubs has gone too. They are just corporates now. You may as well follow the stock exchange.

But I agree. UK boxing is in a good place.

i've never claimed i know anything about the sport.

i don't attend boxing matches cos i prefer the birds eye view from the tv camera lens.
