The BBBofC aren't coming out of this looking too good IMO I don't have much faith in them as an organisation and there rigid stance must change if they are to avoid being sucked in and destroyed by the rapidly growing 'unlicensed' scene.

on this basis then every overseas boxer who has ever boxed in the UK would have to be licensed!
I have brought boxers from overseas over here to box and they have never needed to be licensed, as long as they are licensed in another country then they are granted permission to box
These Idiots don't even know there own rules ,, and thats because half the time they make them up has they go along and bully people ,, well this time looks like they picked on the wrong group ,, either they back down and show everyone there really just a toothless tiger , who get away with it by bully tactics , or it could cost them big time monertry wise

I don't think the Board came out of the whole Boxing Union of Ireland saga with much credit either to be honest, with regards to the recent Fury-Rogan show. Martin Rogan explained at the press conference one month before the fight that the Board were making him take out a British license in order to take part in the contest.
I personally think that an Irish license in Belfast would have been perfectly sufficient and it is not like Rogan is an unknown to them. Mel Christle the president of the BUI was treated with contempt over the whole affair in my opinion in the way they started dishing out no-discussion statements and demanding the imposition of judges, referees and number of rounds. All of this despite the fact that the BUI had agreed to all demands made back in 2007 when they allowed a British title fight to take place in Dublin (Magee-Oakey).

My understanding is that a foreign boxer has to have a form called engagement of alien boxer filled in by the promotor using them to be then passed by the board rather than them actually having to get a bbboc license .
