And remember they are only licensed in Luxembourg, thats like showing a policeman a dog license when he stops you in the car!

Whether the BBBofC recognise the Luxembourg commision isn't relevant. The BBBofC are just another governing body.

The difference is that the German authorities recognise Danny Williams Latvian license. Some European licenses have different medical stipulations than others. For an example my pal with a Spanish license went to fight in Italy and was asked for further medical test like he needed to have an MRI as they are not compulsory in Spain.
To be fair though, I think there is a difference between "recognising" the license or not being having a choice but being forced to accept it. I think if Chisora vs Haye bout goes ahead in the Uk then the latter has had to have happened. Whether we agree with it or not (I think people know where I stand on that) boxrec would have to accept the bout is licenced and it should go on their record.
But I definately agree with Law's stance before the bout takes placed.

In the mean time I expect an announcement from an important body (possibly on Monday).
Wow, that is pathetic. This is a sanctioned fight. It is for the WBO and WBA Intercontinental titles.

I expect chisora will be suspended at the meeting before the fight takes place. That will then surely force the Luxembourg board to follow suit no?

Are you saying that the BBBoC should not have a say who fights in a licensed bout on their turf?
He aint banned.
Am I saying that the BBBoC should not have a say who fights in a licensed bout on their turf? I am saying that legally they dont have to and as its sanctioned by an affiliated organisation then technically they dont have to.

One of the main arguments has been that the Luxembourg board are recognised by the EBU but we have not heard anything from the EBU yet. Lets wait and see what the EBU have to say on the matter. Will they support the Luxembourg board in relation to this fight or not? .....

Alt, if you are hinting at the potential that the EBU are about to come out and distance themselves from LuxBox then fair enough.
But as it stands the fight is sanctioned by an organisation that you recognise sanctions professional fights and list their sanctioned fights so why take this stance now.
Just seems strange and hypocritical and maybe even based on a clash of personalities between certain people at FW and BoxRec.

They don't want to at the moment. That's up to them. It's their site. Amazing that some people are more bothered that a website isn't listing a fight than they are about an attempt to usurp the governing body of the sport in the UK. Each to his own though.

It all seems too political. The fight is currently scheduled, so it should be put up, if it gets cancelled then take it down.
I want the power of the BBBofC to be usurped, they don't deserve their power with the way they have been behaving.

Yes and you're quite entitled to have that opinion. If you ran BoxRec then that would be significant. I'm not sure what consequences you mean. Tell me more.

The BBBofC's threats to take the licences of anyone involved with the promotion of the Chisora vs Haye fight.

Oh gotcha. Thought you meant consequences to the site for not listing it.

What consequences could it have on the Boxrec website or the owner of Boxrec? The board can merely penalise license holders.
It's simple, we do not list unsanctioned fights. There is no conspiracy behind it. If it gets sanctioned at a later date then it may appear on the site.

No one associated with BoxRec has a BBBofC license? The BBBofC cannot make life more difficult for anyone at BoxRec if they wanted?
What do you mean by unsanctioned? The Luxembourg boxing federation is licensing it and the WBO and WBA recognise it, it is being televised on allegedly and the newspapers are reporting on it.
It is a professional boxing match will will appear on their boxing records. BoxRec not recognising it seems very odd.

I thought BoxRec being worried about Board taking some kind of action against them made sense.
BoxRec not putting the fight up because it is "unsanctioned" seems strange to me and a less credible position to take.

The answer to that question is no they can't. The BBBofC does not issue press passes to shows and nor can they stop Boxrec updating their records. There are some volunteers on Boxrec who hold a BBBofC license (including me) but there is no conflict of interest. The board has no influence on external websites.

The WBO and WBA are not governing bodies (they are merely sanctioning bodies). As I said earlier, lets see if the Luxembourg board have the support of the EBU in relation to this fight. If they don't have the EBU's support then one of their key arguments will lose it's validity.

"just" another governing body :?? does anyone know what medical cover the boxers get with the luxembourg commission

BoxRec putting this fight on the schedule wouldn't allow the BBBofC to take your license then? That is good.

Do they need that validity to license the fight though?

Indeed. It would have no affect on me. However, if I attended and worked on the fight then my license could be revoked.

If the owner of Boxrec and the editors feel that additional validity is required then it is totally their prerogative. When a national governing body refuses to sanction a fight then it does need to be looked in to further. The editors are very careful with what fights/results are placed on Boxrec.
