this link will take you to footage of most of the heavyweight champions. But this particular link to the Bob Fitzsimmons-Corbett fight is the most amazing footage I have seen. Nothing like the Youtube clips that are always posted.

I am interested to know, Klompton and others, if you have footage of this quality or if this is completely knew and something which ESPN has spent a bit of time on enhancing.

Here are a couple of interesting ones.

There was a guy back in the fifties who filmed a ton of fights by literally setting up a motion picture camera in front of his TV and filming short snippets of fights that were being broadcast. I was sent a few of these years ago by a guy who bought the collection and wanted me to identify some of the fights.

This one is Clarence Henry beating Bob Satterfield. The film of this fight is fairly common but you will notice this is the television broadcast, not the theatre film, which is shot from a different angle.

Image

This one I havent been able to identify. The guys look like lightweights. Maybe welterweights. It was a televised fight sometime around 1951-1952.

Image

I may be wrong but I think the above photo might be Art Aragon vs. Jimmy Carter II. This would make sense. This film is right before the Satterfield-Henry fight on the reel. Aragon-Carter was held in November of 1951 and Satterfield-Henry was January of 1952. Between the holidays and who knows what else its very likely that the Satterfield fight was the next fight he had the opportunity to film off his television after Aragon-Carter.

Fascinating stuff.

Any plans to add any of this footage to YouTube?

Would be great to get it preserved for posterity.

This one is intriguing. Its a clip of Primo Carnera knocking down a black fighter that I have never seen anywhere before. Neil Clisby or Leroy Haynes maybe?

I think I finally figured this one out. I believe this is Carnera Vs. Seal Harris fought in Sao Paolo Brazil January 13, 1935.

Is it 10 full rounds, not highlights?

If its not 10 full rounds its close. Lot more than the greatest fights of the century version which is pretty short.

Could it be Mike DeJohn?

That would be a weird coincidence given the other thread but i dont know. I think its from the 30s or 40s.

Its possible. Im not sure. Its not a film Ive ever seen though so I have no frame of reference for it. The background might a clue to the venue. Its an outdoor venue and the buildings in the background are distinct.

Not sure the details on this fight but how do you win like this? Maungsurin kicked his ass, knocked him down several times, and apparently knocked him the f___k out but lost...

I am thinking the guy in black trunks that Klompton is trying to identify looks like Eduardo Corletti. Of course the grainy photo and only the back of the opponent makes a positive ID very difficult.

I see the resemblence but I dont think so. I believe this footage pre-dates 1962. By the time this film was shown Corletti would have only had 4 or 5 fights.

Does this mean the Quarry-Mathis film has been unearthed?

Jerry looks like he's carved out of stone - you can see how he would've pounded the crap out of Buster for 12rds.
